  • Dunno why the Consies here are still whining about this. No one has offered a legitimate reason why this isn't perfectly legal and democratic, and Libs get to own both this recession and whatever the hell the BQ demands. Cheer up...

    • If this actually goes through, either the coalition will fall apart and there will be another election, or they will do a good enough job to please 3 different parties in which case everybody wins!

        • VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) - A new Angus Reid Poll explains that Canadians are split down the middle when it comes to how they feel about a coalition in Parliament. The results are much different from all those calls we got this week on the listener line that lamented the idea.

Only 35% of Canadians believe the Conservatives deserve to continue to govern but only 40% disagree. If the Tories fall, the coalition idea is supported by 37%, while 32% would hold another election. Many people of course, are still undecided on both issues.

The most overwhelming result from the poll has three in four Canadians in favour of the government implementing a stimulus package as soon as possible.

Canadians are also concerned by the Bloc Quebecois' involvement in a new government, and to lead that charge, only one in four would be comfortable with Stephane Dion.

                • Toronto Maple Leafs Win Stanley Cup!!!

Canada was stunned Monday when it was announced that The Stanley Cup will be awarded to the Toronto Maple Leafs, possibly as early as December 6th.
The cup will be stripped from from 2008 playoff champions the Detroit Red Wings and be awarded to the Leafs, who didn't even make the playoffs.
How is this possible, Canadians ask?

Well, the Leafs have formed a coalition with eastern conference semifinalists the Montreal Canadians, and conference quarter finalists the Ottawa Senators, now outnumbering the Red Wings.
According to current Leaf coach Ron Wilson "the Red Wings have lost the confidence of the league and should hand the cup over immediately to our coalition".

NHL commissioner Gary Bettman is cutting short a European trip to try to resolve the unprecedented hockey crisis that could force a second playoff series, or see an opposing team coalition take the cup.

/me smacks Ramo because he should know better

This is legal. It's not democratic in the ideal sense, because as your polls indicate only 25% feel comfortable with Stephane Dion as leader. He's the reason why the Liberals got their worst election results in 135 years. He's not fit to be a leader, the population knows this -- the population rejected him. They still reject him now.

If he becomes Prime Minister, it will be against the wishes of 75% of the country's population. That's not democratic.

I still don't care if it's by the rules, democracy is not defined by following "constitutional monarchy" rules. It's an ideal.

                          This is simply not true.

                              • I'll rephrase then: 75% of Canadians are uncomfortable with Dion as Prime Minister.
