Japan, China, Germany. Many European countries, in fact. Pretty much any society that developed without much ideological influence from the American or French revolutions.
Germany developed without much ideological influence from the French Revolution?
You do realize that without Napoleonic wars nationalism may have not developed the way it did?
Nationalism and Liberalism where the two concepts that made a grand debut in Europe with the French revolution.
PS: Yes ideas like equaltiy or nationalism had no infulence on China.
Edit: Should have read thread. Now that I have I regret posting in this non-disscusion.

The world, in the last three hundred years, has not changed except in that sense.

Just so I understand the definition of democracy better I want to use another example and see if this is correct.
Say the majority of Americans decide that blacks no longer have the right to life and the majority of voters vote in favor of genocide to exterminate blacks. Then technically, this is a legitimate democratic process, right?
A lot of Republicans are not racist, but a lot of racists are Republican.
This is a link to information on religious support for equal marriage protection for gays and lesbians. Advocates here point out that extending legal marriage protection for gay couples will NOT compel churches to marry gay couples and they also talk about the difference between religious and civil ceremony in getting married.
This other website offers a list of arguments against legal protection of marriage for gay and lesbian couples and then presents rational counter-arguments to such pointers.

Odd, there's no mention of the Protestant Episcopal Church. Given that PECUSA has gay clergy and a gay bishop I would presume that same sex marriages are performed, at least on a diocese or parish basis.

Yes.

Democracy without limits would be mob rule, that's why we have consitutions, representatives of minorities ect.

It depends on when that website was last updated. Maybe this was before the change with PECUSA?

Yes.
Okay.
So my next question is would Drake support genocide of blacks in the spirit of supporting democracy for democracy's sake.
A lot of Republicans are not racist, but a lot of racists are Republican.
Oh, and when Drake has answered my question, he can also go back to another recent post of mine where I have linked to more arguments on the just cause for equal marriage rights protection.
