Given her performance, yes, I believe exactly that. I wouldn't be the least bit surprised that she didn't know Mexico was part of NAFTA.

      Let me get this straight.

Biden talks about FDR giving speeches on TV in 1929. Biden is an extremely intelligent individual.

Palin is flustered in an interview with Katie Couric and gives bad answers. Palin is obviously so stupid that she doesn't know Mexico is in North America.

God, I'm so glad I voted for McCain. I in no way want to be associated with this kind of idiocy...

You'd rather be associated with the kind of idiocy where the VP can't name a single Supreme Court case outside of Roe v. Wade?

          Which newspapers does she read?

You have to admit, she done it to herself.

No, I'd rather be associated with people who can admit that both Palin and Biden are dumb. With people who can admit that both Obama and Palin are so inexperienced as to be unqualified for office. With people who don't blindly believe everything they hear on TV, no matter how ridiculous and poorly sourced.

NGR, there are differences between gaffes, which anyone and everyone can and does make repeatedly, and just plain old dumb.

Obama, McCain, Biden, Bush, you, me, mother****ing Stephen Hawking--we all make gaffes.

Palin demonstrated over and over again that she was in way over her head, and dumber than a sack of hammers.

No. In fact, as far as I know, she had never met with any representative of our government.

The closest she came was in getting a Canadian company to win the bidding on the AK pipeline deal.

I might also not that it's far more likely she didn't know that Mexico was part of NAFTA.

Again, I'm not convinced that this is the truth. But it doesn't strike me as blatantly implausible.

Don't insult me by claiming I make nearly as many gaffes as Joe Biden. It's not true. It isn't true for Obama, McCain or Stephen Hawking, either. Biden may even have Bush beat. You can dismiss his long and distinguished record of public stupidity all you want, but it's not going to convince me that Joe Biden is actually intelligent. He clearly isn't.

Palin demonstrated over and over again that she was in way over her head, and dumber than a sack of hammers.
How did she prove it "over and over" again? She had some embarrassing interviews her first couple times out. Didn't do herself any favors with those, but such a performance was not unexpected from someone suddenly thrust into the national spotlight. She improved pretty quickly after that and was far less embarrassing over the last few weeks of the campaign than Joe "I guarantee foreign leaders will test Barack with a crisis" Biden was.

Now, I certainly don't think Palin is very intelligent, but neither is Biden. No fair person would dismiss all of Biden's gaffes as having no reflection on his intelligence while condemning Palin to double-**** status forever due to her performance with Charlie Gibson and Katie Couric.

Biden talked to the media. A lot. He loves the sound of his own voice.

He is not the smartest man on the planet, but is decently intelligent (say, compared to Palin; far less so than McCain or Obama) and reasonably well-informed. Because he talks a lot and because he thinks he's a lot smarter than he actually is he makes mistakes occasionally.

Do I think he should become Prez? No. But he does pass the laugh test. Palin doesn't even come close. She didn't just make an occasional mistake. She was a ****wit from the first time she opened her mouth till the end. When she had a pre-written speech in front of her, or was allowed to use one as a debate answer, then she sounded less stupid because a much more intelligent 24 year-old poli sci graduate student wrote her words for her.

Saying "Biden is stupid therefore we shouldn't complain about Palin being stupid" draws a false equivalence between the different levels of stupidity. Biden is standard politician stupid. Probably about average for the Senate. Palin is not even close to that.

No, he didn't. He didn't hold a press conference for almost eight weeks at one point. Palin was far more available to the press over the last month of the campaign.

I'm not saying that. It's cool if you're fair enough to admit they're both stupid. Lots of people aren't.

                            What?

She was the first VP candidate in the modern era to not hold a single press conference!

                              Jesus Christ, Guy...

For the first time since becoming a candidate for the vice presidency in late August, Sarah Palin held an on-camera press conference with her full travelling press corps on the short flight from Ohio to Indiana this afternoon.

What website did you read that "fact" on and take at face value?

Seriously, it took like 2 seconds to type "Sarah Palin press conference" into Google.
