I was moved by McCain's concession speech. He also gets major points for frankly acknowledging the historic moment for African Americans.

This couldn't have gone into any of the other 837 election threads?

Was a good speech. He should have gone with his gut and not gone so negative.

Where was the overly negative stuff in McCain's speech?

Isn't it that he wasn't conservative enough, and she was supposed to keep the faithful while he reached across?

McCain is a class guy, one of the best men we have in government. Excellent words tonight.

and that she was a complete idiot (or at best unready for this level of politics)

What some random Greek thought of her wasn't the point, unless he/she was a new citizen in a battleground state.

I agree she was not the most inspiring person I've ever seen in American (or any other) politics, but neither mine nor your views were the issue.

McCain's speech certainly does him well. Honest, decent, fair. Of course made easier by the clear results.

It was class. It can be pretty much defined by your action and behavior in a moment like this, a big loss. So he was classy Fell with his boots on.

It is interesting though, if he hadn't had Palin as a heavy stone, how far could have he gone? It's too late to know, but it would have been a tight race without Palin, that's my guess.

Like... what's the deal with Romney? He's a strong economy guy, surely that would have boosted him a lot. A smart VP candidate, not much hated I guess, but maybe he didn't want to run under McCain or vice versa, who knows, but Palin was a huge mistake.

No, what was the issue was that she hugely negatively impacted McCain's chances, according to every poll conducted over the last month of the campaign.

When a VP pick has negatives much higher than positives you know something's off. When people respond by a 2-1 margin that she makes them less likely rather than more likely to vote for McCain, you know something's off.

The Republican wingnuts can whine all they want for Palin '12, but she would get slaughtered and all the brighter Republicans know it.
