It doesn't take much thought to come to the conclusion that republicans are against blacks.

Everytime a white person votes for white candidate they're racist. You do not see how dumb this so-called "reasoning" is??

Exactly the point. Why don't you tell some people on your side of the aisle how dumb that so-called "reasoning" is.

Or do you think we should be scouring the countryside looking for the oldest black person just to say she lived long enough to see a black candidate. This just seems silly. WE ALL GET IT. HE"S THE FIRST BLACK CANDIDATE.

We have no idea how negatively she's been impacted by descrimination.

First - you're really depreciating the historical, ground-breaking event of Obama's victory tomorrow.

Second - I still disagree with your point about party-line voting. Why would she ever consider a candidate of the other party if that other party had become so strongly opposed to equal civil rights protection??

I'm never voting for a Republican candidate for example, until such a candidate openly and publicly denounces the party's ties with religious right and favors equal civil rights protection for gays and lesbians. I don't think that makes me dumb simply because I do not want to slit my own throat.

So all those Irish who voted for Kennedy were racists?
          Yes.

What about all those evangelicals who voted for Bush?
You understand "evangelical" is not a race, correct?

Why is it acceptable when Irish...
Who said it was acceptable? Do you think that fact wasn't derrided by the WASPs of the opposing side at the time?

or religious nuts do it but you feel a special need to claim racism when Blacks decide to vote for someone who has their background/values?
Because the color of your skin tells you nothing about a person's background or views. To automatically think that is, by definition racism.

You do understand that the life of Barrack Obama is hardly normal, and really isn't similar to most American's period let alone blacks. Unless you think most blacks are half white, spent their early childhood in a foriegn country, and grew up in Hawaii.

I already have, with the post you quoted.

But it's curious that you don't step up to say same thing when people are accusing blacks of being racist in this same context.

The silliness of the former can be shown by a simple example. If we wanted to make a move about the lives of slaves before the Civil War, we would need to hire Black actors. That would be discrimination based on race. Under the vulgar definition that many folks (especially conservatives want to use), that would be racism. That is absurd

                        1. NO I don't think so. But it's all we've heard since he was nominated. ESPECIALLY IN CHICAGO. It's getting very stale. I would say, and he hasn't won yet, but even I have to acknowledge the inevitable.

                        2. You've voted in what, less than a handful of presidential election if that many. So you not voting for a rep isn't really much of trend yet.

                        3. You've probably put more thought into your vote than this woman has since the first time she voted.

Sorry, but what in the hell makes you say that?

Cause you think she has always voted Democratic? What evidence do you have, that she voted for FDR? Hello, the man got re-elected three times - clearly a lot of people voted for him all the time. Do you have any proof that she never voted for a Republican?

More importantly, even if you can somehow claim she always voted Democratic, do you have any evidence that her votes were not driven by rational self-interest, political agreement, or a dozen different things?

Here you are talking about bias, and yet a central part of your "argument" must be based on some bias because it surely has no evidence behind it.
