Perfect outcome for me. It ensures a mostly do-nothing parliament with only a slight right-wing tinge. It's how I like my government.

Not a bad night all around-- Rex Murphy is predicting that Harper can govern with a "defacto majority" since it is highly unlikely that all three opposition parties would want to be seen as forcing an election

If Harper hadn't goofed on the culture cuts in Quebec, performed just a little better in the debates, and not told Newfoundland that "I don't need your seats", he might have gotten a majority

                    Read that as Liberals.

The good news for Harper is that Dion is unlikely to quit. It will take 6 months to force him out, then another 3 to replace him. At which point the Liberals will want 18 months at least for fund raising.

We'll be through the worst of the economic **** storm before the Liberals dream of wanting to force an election.

Either that or Dion will have learned something (hopefully the English language) and he'll do better next time around. I don't think many people will want to give him the chance.

Aside from my winning a couple avatar bets not much has changed. What was the point again? Yes, Harper will have free reign for about a year (Lib convention is in May) but then a real challenger comes along and he is in serious trouble. 3 kicks at the can culminating in a lack lustre win against one of the worst challengers the Libs could put up. Call me unimpressed.

Harper's problem is deeper than that.

NYE - Dion is toast. It doesn't matter if he goes willingly (although I suspect he will). The next PM will be chosen by the Libs in May.

On a personal note - My riding spoiled the wave of Conservative blue in SW Ontario. London-Fanshawe is a speck of NDP green on the map.

I believe in greater decentralization, and more power for the province, if it could be did, when we're inside the Canada, it could be good. But I don't think it's going to be done.

So, I would vote for teh separation of Quebec.

Also from an identity point of view; I'm not a canadians, whatever what people say, I don't feel as a canadian.
