    Now you're just ****ing lying.

Show me ONE COMMENT I've ever made condoning lobby groups. JUST ONE.

I've never liked lobby groups of ANY kind.

You're not condoning the oil lobby, at least not directly.

Your expressed opinions on the election just happen to conform with their wishes.

And FYI, Chrétien amended electoral financing laws in 2001. It's now illegal for anyone to give more than $2,000 to a party. The parties get money from the government for each ballot cast for them.
Never said lobbying was a good thing, just that if it's allowed how far should it be allowed to go...

And as to the law change...that is pretty bad considering it can lead to a one party system...though I do see the obvious reasoning for it to not happen...
You just wasted six ... no, seven ... seconds of your life reading this sentence.

The logical fallacies you spew are close to being legendary. filosofy at work?

Why should it be any surprise that my interests and that of the oil industry are similar?

I come from a province with the oil industry is the driver for everything. My father is an oil industry executive and gets paid very well for it, which benefits me as well. My SO accepted an offer for an engineering firm whose main clients are oil companies. Many, many of my friends have jobs in or directly related to the oil industry. It's in my own interests and experiences that my beliefs are borne, not the oil lobby. That really should be obvious.

You wonder why I get upset when people like you tell Alberta to "sacrifice". You're basically telling me, my family, and my friends that our jobs are not all that important and we can "sacrifice" them so the good people in Quebec and Ontario can get tax cuts.

            Well yeah.

You're "against" lobbies, but as I claimed, the oil lobby doesn't really bother you. Where's the fallacy?

And you don't seem to have any issue about Harper being their stooge, while you do seem to care a lot that Dion and Layton want to help the manufacturing sector.

The fallacy is claiming I have any support at all or am not bothered by lobbies of any kind. You're adding that connection out of ****ing nowhere.

I have lobbies of any kind. Even if it's oil.

Personally, my views fall in line with the Oil lobby but that does not mean I support the Oil lobby.

That's your fallacy. If you'd like I can come to your apparently **** university and provide fundamental Philosophy of Logic instruction for you and your Francophone peers.

                Define "help"?

I don't believe the government should be throwing money at failing American auto manufacturers (even Harper does this, to a lesser extent). I don't believe the government should be subsidizing the energy sector, either.

I've no inconsistencies here. Another fallacy on your behalf.

                    No, your ignorance is showing.

The growth is what's driving the jobs in Alberta. You don't need the armies of engineers, accountants, etc for established projects -- mostly just the labour.

Additionally, the reduced growth may yet lead to a recession. Not to make it obvious that you know nothing about Canada, but look at the effects of the National Energy Policy on Alberta.

The claims the Liberals made about it just reducing growth were echoed there too. It was far more destructive than any harebrained Liberal ever imagined. Here, too..

You've got it in your head that if no new projects are under way, all we'd have is reduced growth and everyone will keep their jobs. That's not even CLOSE to being true. Again, if you had the most BASIC UNDERSTANDING of how Alberta works, you'd know this.

                      Glorious.

You can share viewpoints with an organization that you don't believe, politically, should exist.

As I said, I don't like lobbies of any kind -- oil or not.

I honestly don't understand what your problem is. Do you think people can only have viewpoints if there is a lobby organization for them?

You're approaching Ben Kenobi territory here.

"I will also make every possible argument against Dion (who wants to reduce the influence of big oil), even though I'm wrong 80% of the time."
By reduce the influence of big oil, you mean drive away big oil investments and lay off big oil employees (friends, family, potentially me) and hamstring the economy that is driven by big oil. I wonder why I'm against that?

The University of Montreal is ranked 91st university in the world by the Times Education Supplement. Where's the "UoC"?
No idea, we don't waste time with such ****. The fact that you have this memorized and you're somewhat proud of being 91st is extraordinarily pathetic.

You have also demonstrated it doesn't produce capable minds, so perhaps they should provide an IQ test for its graduates to fix that "high" ranking for your school.

Conservatives are widening their lead going into the home stretch:

The latest Canadian Press Harris-Decima poll gave Stephen Harper's Tories 35 per cent support across the country, followed by the Liberals at 25 per cent and the NDP at 18 per cent.

The Green party was at 11 per cent and the Bloc Quebecois at nine per cent.

AdScam was the Liberal Party of Canada funding itself from tax payer funds.

I can't believe they trotted out Chretien, and are getting away with it.

Very bad news for Dion. The Tories are getting trounced in Nfld, yet they are up one or two seats overall in the Maritimes while the Liberals are down three.

May got trounced. I'm a bit surprised by that.

                                Shocking results in the offing?
