Biden won the CNN and CBS focus groups. Palin won the Luntz focus group. The candidates tied in the Halperin focus group.

Why? Because it was freakin' DUKAKIS at the top of the ticket.

Likewise, it's freakin' MCCAIN at the top of the GOP ticket this year. And nothing Palin said changed that. In fact, Biden was tremendously successful in hammering McCain and tying him to Bush. Palin was not successful in making any sort of disassociation.
Bingo. But at this point, I'm kinda of the opinion that the McCain/Palin camp loses every debate in which they don't score a home run. Something has to happen for them to stop the slow bleed they've been experiencing, and the debates are really their last, best hope to do that. The Obama campaign has been pretty effective over the entire election cycle (with one or two notable exceptions) at controlling their message and keeping their candidate out of hot water. If McCain doesn't catch him in one of these last two debates, I don't see how they're going turn it around.

      • Huh. So I guess we'll have to wait a couple days to see how it really turned out.

I'm just so happy that I get to vote for Biden as VP. Originally, I had wanted Clark or Dodd or Edwards (until you-know-what, the piece of ****), but Biden did so well tonight in what I was looking for that he's actually making me enjoy voting for Obama more than I originally was!

I was actually not to concerned about the prospect of a McCain presidency until he picked Palin. I had planned on voting third party more as a form of protest. Palin sealed my vote for Obama. I really don't like her, at all. To me she just sounds like a young female Dubya. I think she's an ignorant woman and seems to be a bit of a religious nut. Whenever Palin opens her mouth she projects an image of a air headed hockey mom, not a consummate politician or an orator.

Palin represents what I dislike the most about Republicans these days. McCain really should have picked Lieberman as his running mate. I don't know what hell he was thinking by choosing Palin.

In the end my vote won't matter since I live in Texas.

Yeah that would excite the base.

Please. Most of your posts are intelligent. That is bush league amateur hour, take off your pants and blow me for $5 quality there.

She won. Most blogs are already reporting this.

            • ...McCain probably would have been better served by Huckabee- who is charismatic and has been on the national stage longer than Palin.

Palin was a gamble that looks as though it will not pay off for McCain. She's not a wretched choice, but she's also no Bobby Jindal.

Neither does mine. I'm in Massachusetts.

However, I live close enough to NH that I have friends I can convince. Also, I have friends I still talk to from places I used to live, like Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and Iowa. If you live close enough to New Mexico that you have friends there, tell them how you feel.

                • ...and frankly I don't know if any of them could have put McCain over the top.

Lieberman would have frightened a lot of McCain's base.

                  • You think I could drive down to NH and boast Obama? Would they let me through the border if I stated my reason for visit to be "to change the political system in Washington!"

I Huckabee. I fully look forward to to him being the Freshman Senator from Arkansas in 2010, even if it means that the Democrat loses. I disagree with him on most social issues, but he is such a great pro-poor Christian and hilarious and genuine guy that I really do think he's a good person. And having a Democrat in the White House will make it easier. I think an Obama/Huckabee anti-poverty effort would be amazing .
