I think they would both make decent VPs or presidents. Both have at least as much experience as Obama and in Biden's case much more. Personally I think Palin won the debate because she didn't screw up and she has the right plumbing. All the ladies just got reminded why they liked her after the convention. She'll never get the extreme left women but the ladies of the center and right are smiling right now, and so is McCain. The ladies of the extreme right can't smile because of too many facelifts.Long time member @ Apolyton

Am watching Fox too - do people really think it would be a good idea to have a VP who is "just like everybody else"? A Mayor, sure. The Governor of a state with a small populace, ok. But the VP of the largest, most powerful, influential and probably most diverse nation of Earth?? Back when Clinton was still in contention I was sorta looking forward to seeing how sexist international leaders handled their meetings with a woman leader of the US, but there's just been 8 years of a down-home, simple-talking, gun-loving leader, and look how that ended up. Maybe it's just Fox news befuddling me, but are people actually unable to see the similarity? McCain is nothing like Bush, but Palin is.
I'm also confused why Fox would say Palin won this debate- she didn't come off as a fool, but Biden was impressive. Palin basically accomplished this- anyone who supported McCain but was about to "drop off" because they feared Palin's alleged incompetency, was reassured that she wasn't foolish. I don't think she did much more than that.
In contrast, I'm still angry that Fox and everyone else said McCain lost the debate on the economy last debate- McCain clearly won that.-->Visit CGN!

One thing I will say is that it was very nice to see the candidates and their families chatting for ~10 minutes or so after the debate. Biden and Palin themselves seemed to be chatting for a while after their families had met each other. Refreshing stuff.“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Boris- But Fox didn't think McCain won the economic debate earlier? That's why it seems strange. I guess Fox likes Bush-republicans rather than McCain-republicans.-->Visit CGN!

As for McCain winning the economic debate in the first debate... easy:
1. Eliminate Earmarks & End Corruption (18bn)
2. Spending Cap (This is an interesting comment; but if anyone can restrain unnecessary spending and choose good programs... McCain has the track record (see 4). McCain warned us that gvt. funding biofuels would lead to problems- and it did.)
3. Business tax rates (35% is too high. 2nd highest in world. This limits opportunities for Americans to get jobs; Successfully countered Obama's demurrer.)
4. He has a record of shooting down bad spending bills. (walks the walk)
5.Obama's programs cost $$$$ too, as much as McCain's; and McCain's will lead to economic stimulus and growth.
Obamas MAY lead to a higher standard of living for those receiving the benefits, but it won't help anyone else. With obama its $1 for $1. BOTH candidates will overspend. NEITHER will balance the budget. But at least With mccain, it's invest $1 and get back $2.
ancillary comment 6.) McCain dominated the conversation. Obama looked like he was dithering and sputtering for answers and to get a word in edgewise. McCain has more experience debating and getting his views heard which is important when a President is dealing with tough and intelligent people surrounding him as well as foreign leaders.-->Visit CGN!
