No Commie rant about how we can't entrust space to megacorps?
Modern man calls walking more quickly in the same direction down the same road “change.”

I don't think I'll care until the moon becomes a giant coke billboard. Even then the capitalists will have filled up the atmosphere with so much pollution that we will hardly be able to see it.

Sorry, but I serious doubt many companies will entrust their horrifically expensive satellites to a private company that has only shown it can get 25% of its rockets into space. They are going to have to do a lot more testing and build up a serious success record.

Why would space ventures be any different than Earth-bound ventures?

In any event, the company is a start-up. It has only 550 employees and will probably top out under 1,000 employees for the near-term goals. Compared to the other players in space, this is very small.

Poor guy isn't going to be able to live this down.

In any event, I'm sure he's happy to get a job in the space business. The industry in general is dying, but there are some small companies like SpaceX that are doing new things and hiring.

But this makes it seem that the future of the solar system shall will be megacorporations fighting for resources not the benevolent United Federation of Planets as seen in Star Trek.

I just wish we could militarize space and allow nations to claim territory in space, that is the only thing that would get effective government funded space programs.

Bull****. Missiles are always greater than lawyers.

true but no one bothers to fight over space with lawyers Allowing missles and wars which they seem to consider more fun may encourage nations to actually start colonizing space.

A lawyer propelled at a sufficiently high veloctiy would be enough to damage a satellite.

SpaceX launched a Malaysian satellite into orbit late Monday night, the second successful launch for the private space exploration company, which aims to cut the cost of orbital transport tenfold.
