Bigger plot holes than some crazy robots using humans to create energy?

I hated the Matrix. Special effects can't overcome bad acting.

        ACK!

I didn't say The Matrix was the greatest SF ever.
Christianity: The belief that a cosmic Jewish Zombie who was his own father can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him you accept him as your master, so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib-woman was convinced by a talking snake to eat from a magical tree...

Is there a spaceballs 2? If yes, they should make a Spaceballs 3. But I find humour these days is not as good as back then.

Maybe I'm getting Sci Fi crossed with other genres but I would place the following in the running before any Star Ways ('cept ESP) and I wouldn't have X-Men on my list at all, though I love them.

                      Tron
                      Starman
                      Bicentennial Man
                      Starship Troopers
                      D.A.R.Y.L.
                      Lawnmower Man
                      The Last Starfighter

12 Monkeys (not A Clockwork Orange or Brazil, though I like them both)

Contact; not even in my top 30

The Fifth Element however it would probably around 20 in my top 30.

                      My top 3?

                      Dune

                      Pitch Black

                      Independence Day

                      probably

Though I tell you that X-men would be hard press to make it. Not that I didn't like it, but I just didn't see it as "classic". Marvel rocks, but not that way.

                        DARYL? Are you serious?

The plot holes in that movie hurt my brain when I was six.

How can I forget TRON --FTW!!!! That was a deeply flawed yet totally groundbreaking movie experience. A unique vision.

BTW, my list was very quickly composed and was really just a bunch of titles I enjoyed that weren't in the OP. I tend to like things with a sense of humor, especially dark humor. Or just totally noir. So for me, Brazil is a slam-dunk. Same for A Clockwork Orange.

I have a weird fascination with A Scanner Darkly. Really disliked it at first, then just got sucked into it. I look for it on cable.

I was going to include Mad Max and Road Warrior, but those are post-apoc visions with no "science" in the fiction. I deliberately left off all Star Trek movies. I think of them as TV shows. In fact, it seems that a lot of my favorite sci-fi is episodic TV.
                          Apolyton's Grim Reaper 2008, 2010 & 2011
RIP lest we forget... SG (2) and LaFayette -- Civ2 Succession Games Brothers-in-Arms

12 Monkeys and Tron definitely belong on the list.

Also, honorable mention for The Philadelphia Experiment, I think.

Planet of Apes was a lousy PETA imagination, imho.
