That is inaccurate, at least to the extent that latino = hispanic. Many hispanics are considered white, both self-identifying and by those in charge of determining such things.

It's just like Sammy Sosa is a Hispanic, and a Black. It works the same way. Watch the Univision nightly news sometime. Most of those folks are as white as you are ...

Slow, you need to travel to Latin America. You have to remember that most of the Mexicans who come to the US are the poorest of the poor while the middle and upper class Mexicans are happy with their lives and so don't leave. Yes, there are some Mexicans that are just as white as you or I. In Mexico race and social class tend to go hand in hand.

Being Hispanic is coming from any of the Spanish speaking states of the Americas.

So a Chilean who is 100% German, a Peruvian who happens to be Japanese, a Bolivian who is pure Quechua, a Dominican who is black, or a Guatemalan who is mixed indigenous and white are all Hispanics.

San Francisco Bay Area is probably the richest US metropolitan area, and Whites have long lost the majority status. In fact, Asians dominate districts or suburbs with the highest median home prices and best schools.

This is far cry from European immigrant ghettos.
