They battle the Medicare labyrinth too. Having a single uniform insurer would cut down on all sorts of waste -- I'm all for it. But, having medicare be the model would be bad -- medicare hides its costs through "unfunded mandates" i.e. you, the provider, must do X, Y and Z, which we will not pay you for, or you can not see medicare patients or receive medicare reimbursment. It just passes the administrative/regulatory buck onto the providers, while, at the same time, continuously squeezing them on the reimbursement side.
The undeserving maintain power by promoting hysteria.

I have benefited More so than I believe I would have under a different president. And since I have profited greatly, maybe I made the right decision FOR ME. YA THINK.

That's a much better reason to vote a candidate than most others have.

So If you believe I'm insane, go ahead, but I doubt your reasons for voting for a specific person are any better when you come right down to it.
Do you care about your children? The money you took in tax cuts is essentially a loan that they will have to repay, probably to the Chinese.

Now ask yourself, would you have taken a bank loan in the same amount as the tax cuts you received, which your children would have to pay back?

PS. I heard you now own Mexico money.

That's essentially what you did, because Bush wouldn't balance his budget.

My fear is a system that employs the regulatory and reimbursement structure of medicare and the cost cutting mentality of the private insurers. That said, I think this country needs universal coverage, sooner rather than later. I just want it done right. Unfortunately, I'm not sure exactly what "right" is -- I don't think that something like simply expanding medicare to cover everyone would work.
Why not just copy the Canadians, but allow private supplementary insurance.

Do you realize how bad it is?

In 2003 the United States spent over 16% of its GDP on health care, and there were still 1/5 of Americans uninsured and another 1/5 who had insurance that wasn't really any good.

In the same year, Canada spent just over 9% of its GDP on health care and every single Canadian obtained first class health care. The British spent just over 7% of GDP on running the NHS, which provides free medical care to every Briton. The Canadians live approximately the same lifestyle as Americans, but are on average healthier.

You're doing it wrong. There really isn't any argument against universal healthcare.

QFTMFT!! (Except the Canadians and British should be putting a little more money into their systems to cut down the waiting line -- still, they're better systems that the U.S. has.)

            • I just want to compliment the conduct of rah and Agathon

I am impressed with both the swagger and committment each has

I also hope DaShi has been following, so he wont think I am the only one with experience and opinions

Now, that being said, and no, I dont elieve in Obama andam not 100 percent sold on mCain, but Obama had a good point recently, a GOOD POINT not a good policy,
The Bush administration estimates that expanded offshore drilling could increase oil production by 200,000 barrels per day by 2030. We use about 20 million barrels per day, so that would meet about 1% of our demand two decades from now. Meanwhile, efficiency experts say that keeping tires inflated can improve gas mileage by 3%, and regular maintenance can add another 4%. Many drivers already follow their advice, but if everyone else did, we could reduce demand several percentage points immediately. In other words: Obama is right.

In trucking, which has so many inrows associated with oil consumption, we who monitor and track maintenance as another way to save money, cut costs and add money to the bottom line, realize this remark makes sense.

It was taken out of context and blown out of proportion but it exactly those basics which will help.

It is a shame with all the so called experts in our world, we can 1000 times over pick apart what programs wont work but these so called experts cant tell us what will

Of all my time here, this has been one of my favorite threads

Now, DaShi, please dont be upset because I dared pick out something I saw as an error, I dont think your a moron, I dont think your an idiot, I merely disagreed with a post.

Now, I dont suck it" nor do I intend to, but would offer as an example rah and Aggie, gentlemanly and scholarly debating issues and points of view

Oh and for the record, I am not prejudiced but do agree with rahs analogy of Obama

Now, back to Live at the Chicago Amphitheatre

Wait, wait, wait. No candidate's proposing this now. Kucinich wanted it, but he lost.

I don't think much of you at all. And anyone who agrees with Rah on Obama is a loon in my book.

As for calling me an ass, one must merely refer to the story of the Kettle and the Pot and the Black.

There's this feature of the forum called a private message function where one member can send a message to another member. I'm told its quite useful. You might want to look into it as I get reminded of it as well when I do that.

Actually, it is just between him and me. He wasn't very respectful to me, so I'm not going to kiss his ass for it.
