Businesses don't pay taxes. They pass them on to you and I, making gas cost even more. Obama is proposing a "windfall profits" tax, i.e. he's only going to be taxing their excessive profits. Under this theory, there should be any additional costs to pass on. [Businesses don't pay taxes. They pass them on to you and I, making gas cost even more. BTW: I don't buy this explanation either. Last I heard, the percentage profits being made by the oil companies are in line with other industries -- so I don't see any "windfall" profits.]

My understanding is that OPEC pumps the oil, and the oil companies refine it into gasoline. What do you know that I don't?

I won't vote for Obama because I think he's too far left and will send the country into a spending spree the likes we haven't seen. The paying as we go part will fall to the wayside. A democratic congress unchecked by the oval office is a recipe for disaster in my book.

Even in hindsight I'd still vote bush over the alternatives that were offered up. I'd be more than happy to vote for a democrat if they could find one even marginally acceptable to me. Unfortunately they haven't since Clinton (who was really a republican )
And just because I don't like the sound of some of his spending proposals (bribes) doesn't mean I don't understand why I pay taxes. Granted the 40 to 50 grand that I paid probably covered a small percentage of one tomahawk missile is annoying. Again, if we don't agree with you we must be a moron. When I argue with people it's usually better if they don't figure out they're a moron untill a few days later.
