    Yemen

    China
    North Korea
    USA
    Syria

It's basically an "axis of evil"...
Now, darling, you know that's hardly fair to pick on Iran. Their president has said so himself, Iran doesn't have gays.

How does the Gay lower someone's service and/or dedication to their country?

Canada can't even engage overseas, and we are worried about gay people having hurt feelings?
To be fair, the Canadian tax base, its social priorities, and its social programs prohibit them spending enough on their military to form a truly blue-water navy. Add to that the question, why should Canada engage militarily overseas for any reason outside of peacekeeping operations? Should Canada be a policeman to the world?

For people like Ben it's not about peacekeeping, policing, or doing good -- it's all about who has the biggest wang. Who cares that Canada's social programs are far better than anything in the US when we only have 100 or so fighter jets? Right?

          Kenobi

I think we ought to remember how incredibly racist the United States was when the military was finally integrated. Integration did not adversely affect our combat ability. Allowing gays to openly serve in the military will not affect combat ability.

What it will do is provide a positive example of gays in an environment most conservatives have a hard-on for, the military, and lead, ultimately, to conservatives agreeing that homophobia is stupid and old fashioned, especially those that serve along side them. That is what people like Ben fear.
          Wrong on two fronts.

First off, integration has nothing to do with masculinity. It's just racism. Black people are strong like white people and can jump even higher. But gay men will never be as masculine in image as straight men. The definition of masculine is someone who nails girls a lot, sorry, but a gay guy can never do this. Being black is natural. Being gay is not. This is the fundamental problem that can never change, this is why gayness has always been tabboo.

And 'people like Ben' also fear for the cohesiveness and strength of the military. It's not about gay bashing, it's about whats best for the army.

Also, as seen by your recent thread in the tech forum, you're kind of a moron.

And when I say "ever served in the military" I mean you yourselves (not your father, uncle, grandfather, etc).
Being gay is tough enough normally, imagine it being in an environment where it's all about masculinity. Try all you want, masculinity is all about vaginal intercourse. VAGINA!

            Bull****.

Like Slowwhand stated earlier; I spent 20+ years in the Army and I consider myself (as do others) just as masculine as any of my fellow heterosexual soldiers.

Just because a guy is heterosexual does not automatically make him masculine. Being gay does not make a guy un-masculine (or feminine, if you will).

            Talk about a stereotypical, bigoted mind-set ...

I am supremely confident that I am more masculine than Wiglaf.

                BIOLOGY TIME

Masculinity is commonly associated with vigour, health, sturdiness, and constitution, especially in the fathering of children. In this sense, virility is to men as fertility is to women.
In other words masculinity means not just being strong, but also being sexually capable and active in a way that involves using your male member the ways its supposed to be used.

Otherwise, you're like the guy who owns 20 guns but can't fire any of them. We would hardly call him a tough guy.

I CAN FATHER MANY CHILDREN. MORE THAN YOU.

                    Way to misquote, Wiggy.

Virility is commonly associated with vigour, health, sturdiness, and constitution, especially in the fathering of children. In this last sense, virility is to men as fertility is to women.

Well, as usual, we can always agree to disagree Wiglaf.

You use your male member in the ways that you believe its supposed to be used; and I will use my male member in the ways that I believe its supposed to be used.

I myself feel that homosexuality is just nature's natural birth-control gene. The world is already over-populated as it is ... just imagine what it would be like if homosexuality didn't exist!?!

If I called HIV nature's birth control virus, I have a feeling you'd get all whiney.

And Asher, grow up son. Just because you work out and have rock hard abs and a photogenic face (whatever), the simple reality is that you will never father kids and have probably never banged a woman. This is key to masculinity. You are like the fireman who trains hard but never gets to use his hose.

                                Thanks Wiglaf, for noticing.

I have banged a woman, when I was in high school.

And I will father a kid. I'll have one kid biologically mine, the SO will have one kid biologically his a couple years apart. It'll be glorious, though years down the road.
