Wall-E Deserves Its Own Thread. Best movie of the decade? Mayhaps.

That's just a very weird and strange objection entirely. Plenty of movies have dealt with robots falling for each other. Biology doesn't matter one whit... when artificial intelligence is programmed with emotions, it isn't all that out of the blue to think they may find emotion for each other.

I mean that's like saying WALL-E being all emotional about "Hello Dolly" is a poor choice and the entire movie should just have him going around making garbage squares like good robots should.

Oh... and it's FAR better than Ratatouille. Dunno how I feel about it vis-a-vis Pan's Labyrinth. They are very different movies, after all.

Just because plenty of movies have had robot love stories doesn't make them any less silly. I don't think it's the end of the world, or anything. And obviously, the exposition has to end when WALL-E starts abandoning his directive somehow.

Giving him a robot companion is fine, even. But robots holding hands and stuff is still a little bit hard to take seriously. Again, though, I don't feel like that was movie-breaking or anything. I just would have preferred to see them try something a little bit more creative when they have a robot protagonist.

Obviously most people didn't think robots holding hands was hard to take seriously. I actually thought that was incredibly touching how WALL-E tried to get EVE's hand out from her smooth body and tried to hold hands like in Hello Dolly though the entire flick.

Considering that you also liked Revenge of the Sith, I might suggest that you just have lower standards.

But anyway, you don't need to keep harping on why robot love isn't silly. It's really the anvilicious morals and the goofy people in the second act that are more off-putting.

Robot love is awesome. For most people on this site, it's all they'll ever get.

I'm just thinking that you are making absolutely silly objections. Ok, you didn't like it, but the robots in love thing is goofy?

Saying the second half was too over the head is one thing (I personally really liked the idea of how the laziness of humanity had caused so many problems), but if you actually had a problem with robot love, it's mind boggling why you'd go see a movie that is, centrally, about robot love.

As for Revenge of the Sith... we are talking about a movie with 79% (69% Top Critics) rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

They're insanely overpriced? Plus you've got to deal with douchebags and other people.

I've got a home theatre that I much prefer watching movies with. Especially if it's in HD. My couch is much more expensive than the movie theatre's, the movie starts and stops when I say so, etc.

It's supposed to be a kid's movie and Disney is expecting to get it's money back. Hell, the first part of the movie is more experimental than any other kid's film I can remember (far more than anything done in Ratatouille), to the point that I have already said this isn't really a kid's movie.
