That's just a very weird and strange objection entirely. Plenty of movies have dealt with robots falling for each other. Biology doesn't matter one whit... when artificial intelligence is programmed with emotions, it isn't all that out of the blue to think they may find emotion for each other.
I mean that's like saying WALL-E being all emotional about "Hello Dolly" is a poor choice and the entire movie should just have him going around making garbage squares like good robots should.
Oh... and it's FAR better than Ratatouille. Dunno how I feel about it vis-a-vis Pan's Labyrinth. They are very different movies, after all.
