who spent four years in a Vietnamese prison camp

I am confused why spending time in prison makes one a patriot? Even if it's a foreign one as a POW.

Let's say Michael Moore's so fat his seat falls out of an airplane and he lands in North Korea. He is a prisoner there for four years.

Is he more of a patriot now?

that NY Times review is ridiculous.

As for Asher's question, it isn't a matter of patriotism necessarily but of character. McCain was captured and because his dad was someone important he was offered release. But he chose to stay with his men and endure a few years of torture. That says a hell of a lot about him as a person.

Yes, but not of patriotism. You didn't answer the question or you confuse the two concepts.

My 6 yr old didn't like it.

Or, at least, not as much as other Pixar movies, since he has not asked to see it again since my in-laws took him for his birthday.

In fact, he doesn't even want the game now.

But the fact that he was captured defending his country...... (that's the patriotic part)

So no just being in prison or Moore falling out of a plane just doesn't cut it. But I liked the imagery.

"defending his country"? Korea or Vietnam, defending his country? Was it defending his country or offending an enemy of his country? Is that the same thing?

I would say military service is a sign of patriotism, that is granted.
The fact that he was a POW has nothing to do with patriotism, is my point.

What Wiglaf quoted is part of an op-ed column (not a review like Ozzy seems to think for some absurd reason), and it makes some (though not much) sense only if you read it in full.

                    • Agreed, but that he was a POW is a reminder that he actually served in the military in a war zone.

But being a POW has nothing to do with patriotism, but I have to give him props for refusing release to stay with his unit. That's loyalty, a trait that I have high respect for.

Which doesn't really matter one lick really when it comes to being a good president, which is what these men are running for. I find it funny thought, that so many people who bring up McCain's war record voted against the war hero last election.

                        • As for Revenge of the Sith... we are talking about a movie with 79% (69% Top Critics) rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
I just lost some respect for Rotten Tomatoes (or, perhaps more accurately, the critics/users its ratings are based upon). RotS was laugh-out-loud bad.

Or rather you let your preconcieved biases cloud the movie. Its just cool now to bash the prequals, including the more than decent RotS.

Voters at IMDB give it a 7.9/10:
