While that is certainly true as a concept, it doesn't apply here. What you said is simply too dumb to be considered an argument.

        Why doesn't it apply here?

Because there's nothing to be understood in what you said. You use real words, but you're speaking nonsense.

          1. Charities do not exist because of conservatives.

          2. Liberals don't not give to charities.

          3. If giving to charities is a good idea and liberals don't have a good reason for not contributing, they should be condemned for it.

          4. What's not your fault?

What doesn't make sense about that? Liberals spend money on the same things that charities do. Didn't you know that?
            2. Liberals don't not give to charities.
For various reasons already provided in this thread. But who cares? We generally pay more for work, which in my view is better. It's more egalitarian.

What exactly is immoral about not giving to charities?
            4. What's not your fault?
Inefficient and ineffective conservative policies which are responsible for unsatisfied needs in society.

              Gross generalization. Try again.

That was a statement, not a question, and you failed to understand it.

What exactly is immoral about not giving to charities?
              I didn't mention morality.

Inefficient and ineffective conservative policies which are responsible for unsatisfied needs in society.
That makes sense, but you didn't say that. "It's not our fault" after what you did say would imply that it's not our fault we don't give to charities, which makes absolutely no sense.

Did it strike anyone else as ironic that this anti "left" smear begins with quoting and affirming something an unber-liberal like George Orwell said?
"The world is too small in Vorarlberg". Austrian ex-vice-chancellor Hubert Gorbach in a letter to Alistar [sic] Darling, looking for a job...
"Let me break this down for you, fresh from algebra II. A 95% chance to win 5 times means a (95*5) chance to win = 475% chance to win." Wiglaf, Court jester or hayseed, you judge.

Oh for sure, but welfare fraud is a fact of life and is a problem inherently associated with the program.
No it isn't. Fraud is inherently associated with any institution where human beings make exchanges. Some people will always try to misrepresent their position in order to gain. This is the same whether it is a corporation that knowingly sells a defective product, or a person who knowingly misrepresents his income on his tax return or someone who knowingly misrepresents himself as qualifying for welfare.

The solution is the same in all cases. Effective oversight. It's actually easier for a government department to oversee welfare, since the state has powers that ordinary individuals don't have. Indeed, sometimes they abuse these powers and violate the civil rights of welfare recipients in a way that a private company could never hope to.

Generalizing widely, and of course to a large extent it is country specific, I have found out that right wingers have a more deveoped sense of personal responsibility and that almost always is a definite bonus to being a wholesome person. At the same time they sometimes manifest a shalowness that is repugnant.

Leftists are less prone to undertake personal responisbility making them "childish" in behavior, however they sometimes are more profound than right wingers (or fake it for a short while) and have a larger capacity at escaping the norm which is entertaining if it's not productive.

These are wild generalizations of course and it all comes down to what sort of a person you really are, be that "right winger" or "leftist", the lines have been blurred enough those past years.

The ones that are really indifferent and boring are the a-political types, in any case.

                          Wholeheartedly agree.

Disagree. Private charities have easier oversight. The problem with welfare is that there really isn't any incentive for those who manage the program to catch welfare fraud. Perhaps if you gave them a bounty that would change, but I don't believe that is the case now.
