I must say I'm a bit disappointed. I had hoped the Florida and Michigan voters would be bumped up to the magical 3/5ths of a person. Sadly they fell short.

Yep. Ultimately, all of the Governors (and former Governors) in the country are weaker candidates than Obama and Clinton. People don't get to be President without prominent supporters greasing the wheels. By that definition, every reasonably successful candidate is an "establishment candidate."
Clinton had half of the party apparatus in her back pocket. That's a reasonable characteristic of an "establishment candidate."
