Age and Dating

Do you tend to date people only around your age, with difference being no greater than, say, three years? Or do you have a broader age range preference when dating someone?

I'm 30 and I generally have an age range preference of 26 - 42 years of age in the other guy.

I've only dated two people (and probably that is all I ever will). One was older than me by 4 days, the other by 1.5 years.

I don't know that I specifically chose people around my age, as I met both in school where ages were nearly guaranteed to be close; given my choice, I think I would select someone near my age all other things equal, but I don't know that it would be the deciding factor.

My wife, mother of my daughter, was 2 years younger.
Had I not been a drunk at the time, which led me to indiscretions, all would have been fine.
I was with 2 women after that, both 10 years younger.
Eventually, you have to get out of bed and talk. The bed part was fine, but the talking, there was little in common. Eventually, you have to talk.
Years don't have to matter, but they can matter.

Well yeah -- age should not necessarily be an exclusive, all-deciding factor or deal breaker if the other person has strong, good qualities.

My wife is a year younger than I am. Before I met her, I only really dated girls within the bracket of three years in either direction, though I think most of them tended to be a little older than me, at least by a few months.

Sex wise? Again, don't care but no underage girls. Sex, I've done it with a person who was 4 years younger and with a person who was 15 years older. Those are the maximums I've experienced, dating wise, about the same age as I am.

Last girl I tried to go out with but got rejected was 3 years older, a girl who is now interested in me and I'm interested in her, for a real relationship that is, is 4 years younger than I am. That would be born in 1984. Orwellian. Then again, her salary is about double to mine so I think it compensates for the fact that I am also older. No... wait...
