Interesting to see such a strong statement. This was the public line 3 or 4 months ago but I've seen nothing since. I (and most of the community it seems from threads here and at the unmentionable site) have almost given up.

I think they've backed themselves into a corner with all the early rhetoric about changes. They can't now after more than 6 months release essentially a bugfix patch that fans themselves provided the bulk of within 24 hours of the last official patch.

And to echo other points here - Civ4 is a great game and that is not my gripe. My annoyance is precisely because BtS has such great potential with just a few tweaks and bug fixes. Leaving it unfinished like C3C is a bigger crime because the underlying game is something we could be playing for years.

There certainly is a final patch Alex has stated as much, and that there is a patch being developed (and was months ago).

I wonder how much Atari was involved in the C3C patch issues (and about not providing resources to it); and think it's very likely 2KGames plays a similar - or even more substantial - role in this particular issue. It is certainly not Alexman and Trip holding it up...

It wouldn't surprise me if 2Kgames was concerned about the bugs introduced by 3.13 and requiring a significantly more detailed in-house testing process; and with GTAIV the main push for them until a few weeks ago, I certainly could imagine that being the holdup.

If that's true, perhaps it will be out soon

Yeah... Alex and everybody else as pretty much stated a patch will eventually come out. And they should be concerned about bugs since their last patch probably did more to create new problems then fix old problems.

It will be the last patch, so I would rather wait and see them do it right.

Well if that's all you're going on I'm far from convinced I'm afraid. I'm sure Alex and Trip had the best of intentions when those statements were made, but not sure how much they are worth now.

Yep... The unofficial patch is great for SP. My thanks to Bhruic and any others who have solved many of our problems. However, being an MP player, the offficial patch is still key to us.
