I think that opinion in the United States is decidedly different from the rest of the world because we have a free press -- by free, I mean a virgorously presented right wing point of view on the air and available to all.- Ned

So I have the right now to demand someone marries me?

I didn't know that marriage was an individual right.

Yes, I think you should be allowed to marry your horse if it makes you feel better.

The California supreme court's 120 page opinion trumps your 2 sentence stupidity.

              You lose.

People had the right to be treated equally under the law unless, at the California Supreme Court says, there is a compelling state interest to the contrary.

That's the problem, now, isn't it? God's Will isn't subject to any Equal Rights provision. But governmental action is.

How does equal protection apply to a collective? It's always been individuals. This is why marriage has never fallen under that category.

I don't have the right to demand marriage benefits from the state on an individual basis, or to demand any benefits and recognition for my relationships. The state can choose to recognise them, but that is their decision. It's not an individual right, because it requires the consent of another party.

Judicial tyranny is hardly substitute for the will of the people. I don't see why it would be so difficult to secure the support of the people of California for this issue, rather then overriding what they have already said.

The US had better be careful then.
You just wasted six ... no, seven ... seconds of your life reading this sentence.
