Yeah, there is no chance Obama loses here. Clinton could win every state from here until the end, but unless she wins by like 70% in EACH state, she's not going to get the big prize.

On a side, tangential note, what a coward John Edwards is. Obviously he was waiting until the bitter end to see which candidate would get the nomination, so he could then throw his support behind them and possibly fanagle his way into an AG role. He would have backed Hillary if she was the one with no chance to lose now.

If she does, that might give supers some pause, but Obama still would be the almost certain nominee.
West Virginia doesn't add much to the mix. Obama had picked up more SuperDelegates in the previous week than there were pledged delegates in W. Va.

The common wisdom is that Hillary will win Kentucky and Puerto Rico. Barack will win Oregon and Montana.

Edwards has just endorsed Obama. That adds to his total of SuperDelegates and Edwards has 17 delegates pledged to him to bring along.

But the pledged delegates don't have to vote for Obama. They can vote for Edwards at the nomination if they want to.

Are you shocked that the White Obama endorsed the more sucessful version?

I wouldn't say that it's not simply demographics. Religious affiliation is a reasonably good proxy for the white vote (Southern Baptists, and to a lesser extent Baptists in general and Methodists vote Clinton)..

Counties where Clinton got 2/3+ of the vote:

            Baptists:

            Methodists:

It's a poor correlation. If it were the confluence of Methodists and Southern Baptists, Hillary would have won the south.

No, but if he actually did it a few months ago, it may have seemed less like candidate shopping. It seems he would have endorsed Hillary if she was leading in delegates right now.

I still hope she can keep it close enough so that MI and Florida's delegates will still matter. I live in hope of a floor fight over kicking those two states out.

Wrong interpretation. What's not on the map: black people. Not a lot of them are in Appalachia.

Something you might not be familiar with, Heraclitus: WV is one of those states that seems to exist to be the butt of jokes. Specifically, jokes about people who marry their sisters, distill hooch in their bathtubs and have front yards full of garbage and broken-down cars. Sure, their votes are technically as good as everyone else's, but...eh.

But, as a practical matter, what happens to them if Obama selects Edwards as his running mate?
