  • BK's bible discussion thread

Since I'm allowed two threads a day and discussing the Bible is still allowed on Poly.

One of the questions I have is whether it's permitted for me to attend an orthodox church. There is one just down the road from me say a block or so, and I've been interested in going to one.

Is it ok for Catholics? I'm not sure about that.

Can BK! He started a thread when a mod told him not to! I got a week ban last time I did that.

Even if he gets banned, Ben will always be welcome at my church.

Something tells me he'd enjoy my church too much.

All of the topless young men and YMCA playing...

Only if you stand in the outer part of the church (for repentant unbelievers). But that's the Orthodox viewpoint, no idea what your Catholic priest will say.

Thanks. I was curious about that too, since I wouldn't want to offend you folks either.

As far as I know, you folks are in communion with us.

Yes, it is fine for Catholics to go to an Orthodox church.

In Catholic school, I went on a field trip to a famous one in Houston.

Just go BK, you won't be excommunicated

In fact, way back then when I was about 10 years old my (Roman Catholic) class went to a Protestant service. Though it was for educational reasons, there was no lightning and parting of the heavens, so I guess you should be okay
Within weeks they'll be re-opening the shipyards
And notifying the next of kin
                          Once again...

...um, no. We wouldn't get any converts if we were so unfriendly, and there is no such part of the church. Not in America, anyway. My GF was just chrismated a few weeks ago after over a year attending services as a lapsed Presbyterian. Perhaps it's a Russian thing, akin to the part of the service where you bow down to the statue of Putin?

Seriously, all you have to do is avoid taking communion, since we understand that to be a sign of full dogmatic agreement. Otherwise it's all good. This thread is misnamed, though. Not that I mind. I only clicked out of morbid curiosity, to see what the justification was for restarting a locked-down thread...
