      • Like I've stated in other threads like this one -

Homosexuality is rampant within our military. It has always been there, and it will always be.

The military knows this (after 20+ yrs in the Army, I think I have some insight into it).

I equate the military's reluctance to openly accepting homosexual soldiers into their fold as that of the Catholic church openly accepting homosexual parishioners into their fold. (I use the Catholic religion, since I was raised Roman Catholic)

Quite frankly, I think this whole issue of one's sexuality dictating if one is "fit for service" as bull****. (and the same goes for religion concerning the requirements of being a parishioner in a given church).

                  • Yes, I don't think it should be in the business of the military to inquire into those personal details... the other way?
You don't get recognition, which is what this is all about. If you want the military out of your personal affairs, asking for benefits isn't the way to do it.

But it doesn't work, so its dumb. On the other hand, saying the military can have its own rules, means well, black people can be out if the military wants to.

It is when the other people get benefits. So don't give benefits to anyone. Or do you think the military should be fully involved in heterosexual marriage, with all that means?

That is exactly what my partner b!tches about to this day - He did the time with me (well, the last 11 years), but he doesn't get the dependent ID card.

And people say I lack a sense of humour. Smiley is right there.

On the other hand, saying the military can have its own rules, means well, black people can be out if the military wants to.
True, it's all volunteer. You can't get into it, and btw it says right at the start that the military reserves the right to accept you into their ranks. They don't need to even explain why they rejected you.

It is when the other people get benefits.
Then why doesn't everyone in the services get the same benefits? That's what I'm asking you. Clearly you are arguing that the benefits ought to be limited, just at a different line. I don't see how you can say with a straight face that it's fairer to those who will not get the benefits, if you expand them, some people are still excluded.

So don't give benefits to anyone. Or do you think the military should be fully involved in heterosexual marriage, with all that means?
I'm saying that if you don't want the military to get involved in your personal life, don't ask for benefits. If you want them to go over everything with a fine tooth comb, then go right ahead.
