Any exit polling on how the clinging to religion comments played with voters?
Don't know, but according to CNN Clinton had a very healthy lead among church goers, Obama had a healthy lead with "nevers"

Clinton also pulled 62% of the gun owners.

Betting against John Kerry in a national election is hardly going out on a limb.

I'd take your bet if Clinton were the nominee, but I won't for Obama, I don't think he's electable. Not because, as you said, he's a Negro, but because I think the electorate will view him as a John Kerry with darker pigmentation.

Over the last decade Colorado and Nevada have been flooded by Californians fleeing the high cost of housing in their home state. The demographic trend has pissed off a lot of the long time residents but it has also produced a very real shift to the left.

                      I remember that.

How could Bush possibly have won? Seriously!

I have another bet going against McCain. I just can't see why we keep whining about the Republicans but then we elect them anyway.

I honestly think that at this point the only way to get a Democrat in the White House come November is a party unity ticket. Polls show the campaign has become so bitter that no matter which candidate wins a third of his or her voters would rather vote for McCain then for the other person.

Whichever one of them wins the nomination will be subjected to an eight month smear campaign designed to show that they are a feminazi lesbian or a Black Panther Muslim. It doesn't matter how true any of it is. It will simply keep being repeated until enough dopes believe it.

I don't see what is so difficult to understand: enough Americans who live in the right places are right wing yokels and rubes such that the Republicans will win every time. I don't know why foreigners worry about this so much. They should be trying to distance themselves from the US rather than hoping against hope that American voters won't prove themselves to be a bunch of pudnockers... again.
Why does Obama lead McCain in just about every nationwide poll and why is it a toss-up between Clinton and McCain?

Are you basing your opinion on some undiscovered fact or are you just conducting your own Anti-America "smear" campaign.

I'm not saying that there are not prejudices that take place in the electorate. In fact, one could argue that every voter votes based on some sort of "prejudice" about the candidates. I won't vote for Clinton not because I am prejudiced against women, I have prejudged her to be an avid liar and a person who would do anything to keep her and her husband in power even at the detriment to the country.

My problems with McCain isn't that he is Irish or too old. My problem with him is that he seems to represent more of the same last eight years.

My problem with Obama isn't that he is only half white or has a funny sounding name. My problem is that I am not sure if he can convert his idealism into reality and if his idealism isn't in some cases the wrong direction or naive.

So if Clinton somehow steals the nomination the choice is easy... McCain. If Obama gets it then it will be a tougher decision that I will have about 6 months to make. And believe me, I won't be spending 6 months trying to decide what race, nationality, gender or religion the candidates are.

The media totally overplays the anti-woman anti-black sentiment. Then the public, especially foriegners, buy into it. Then white Americans say, "That's a shame, but who are all these people that hate blacks" Blacks on the other hand, tend to take any issue or criticism and feel it racially motivated. Male Americans are saying "that's a shame, but who are all these people that are anti-women". And women feel any slight to them was a slight based on entrenched anti-feminism.

I think the "I ain't voting for a black" mentality represents an over publicized and over estimated small minority of voters. As for the supposed "anti-woman majority", well I got news for you, women represent the majority of the American electorate.

I suggest you actually live in America before you make-up your mind on how Americans think. By live here, I don't mean visit Manhatten, Chicago or L.A. tourist attractions. There is a reason why the country is so divided. It's because we all don't think alike. On the values of anti-racism and gender equality however, the vast majority of Americans do think alike.

Polls mean crap at this stage. Kerry polled reasonably well to start off with.

It's a reasonable inference from what has gone on. If Hillary wins the nomination, black voters will stay away in protest at what she did to get it. If Obama wins, the Republicans will have some group swift boat him as an elitist and a race based candidate (like Jackson or Sharpton). Expect to see more of Obama's pastor.

If the slime can get a lot of people to believe that a war hero is a cowardly French *** based on evidence that never passed muster, they'll have an easier time dealing with a black liberal intellectual with a Muslim background, who has spent a lot of time around somewhat militant blacks and whites. Only Howard Dean would have been an easier mark than Obama.

I'm not saying I like this, but this seems to me what will happen. Of course the electorate could see through it, but given the way the media behaved with the Jeremiah Wright stuff, I doubt it.

Face it, you live in a country where any sense of decency has been abandoned in politics. In my country, everyone knows the Prime Minister is a lesbian, but the opposition would dare not bring it up against her, because they know they would take an absolute hammering from the electorate, because our people won't put up with that crap. Apparently, it is different in the US.

He was a complete oaf, who had lied the country into a war that was going badly, bungled another one, failed to protect the country from a huge terrorist attack, trashed the economy, and who had incurred the hatred of the rest of the world apart from Israel and a couple of Pacific Island nations. And his opponent pounded him into mincemeat in every debate.

The only reason he didn't get absolutely raped in the election is that your media completely failed to hold him to account, and that the average voter is a moron.

Why people believe in democracy is beyond me. I mean it works in smaller countries like Sweden and New Zealand, and works quite well in Canada. But it's an absolute joke in the US and UK and many other countries.
