well he supported, though he didn't vote for the peru free trade deal(he was on the campaign trail at the time).

You seem to think I said no one would change their vote based on a sound bite. I clearly said there were people who will, but that I think they're retarded and/or so easily swayed that they will be swayed by various other things.

Are you saying it's a good reason to change a vote?

You have a remarkably poor understanding of small town America. Have you ever lived outside southern California?

I can speak from my own experience. I don't get judged in Oklahoma for being from a blue state, at least not that I can tell. However, I'm pretty sure that stating my beliefs here in this state is going to probably get me beat up or killed.

And, Hell, to a lot of people Kid's ignorant comments sound like what Obama was trying to imply.

Kid, as it should be, as it should be

To be fair, your revolution does advocate pulling most of them out of their homes and hanging them from the nearest tree. Are you supprised?

That's just what they think. Kind of like how they think Obama is a muslim.

No, clearly I wasn't saying that it was a good reason to change a vote. My point is, that if Bush got elected and reelected, I have no faith in the mass to not be swayed by soundbites such as this.

Nah. I love these people. They are good people. They are just insane when it comes to politics and religion.

Um... McCain said his support base would rather have him first secure the border before "amnesty" and that's what he said he would do. He never stated that he'd give up moving illegals to legal status. Just that he'd put a border fence up first, due to the wishes of the people.

I know you hate McCain, but really, stop straying into Oerdin territory.
I know you love McCain, but stop inventing strawmen.

What's undeniably clear is that he backed away from comprehensive approach that he earlier supported (and getting the border under control would be difficult in the absence of a comprehensive effort that included a pathway to citizenship). Kennedy-McCain became Kennedy-Kyl, and now it doesn't even look like he would vote for it. Kristol asserting that McCain's taking a leadership role when he caved into the right is ridiculous.
"Beware of the man who works hard to learn something, learns it, and finds himself no wiser than before. He is full of murderous resentment of people who are ignorant without having come by their ignorance the hard way. "

That is not contrary to what I said, so why did you try to imply I was ignorant?

As in late January 2008 on Meet the Press, McCain said:

Q: If the Senate passed your bill, S1433, the McCain-Kennedy Immigration Bill, would you as president sign it?

A: Yeah, but look, the lesson is, it isn't going to come. The lesson is they want the border secured first. I come from a border state. I know how to fix those borders with walls, with UAVs, with sensors, with cameras, with vehicle barriers. They want the border secured first. And I will do that, and, as president, I will have the border state governors certify those borders are secured. And then we will have a temporary worker program with tamper-proof biometric documents, and any employer who employs someone in any other circumstances will be prosecuted. That means a lot of people will leave just normally because they're not going to be able to get their job. Then we have to get rid of two million people who have committed crimes here. We have to round them up and deport them. As far as the others are concerned, we were in an ongoing discussion when this whole thing collapsed.
“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”
