    So I'm 2-0 down now.

I thought you were commenting on my poor use of punctuation in the previous post. I only noticed it when you mentioned it. I'm one of the "lost generation" when it comes to that stuff.

    • Don't worry, I'd rather read a baldy-punctuated post in good spirit than a badly-punctuated post in bad spirit. So you still have room for improvement, be itfor the better or the worse

            • Canada did its part relative to its resources available to participate. I would say considering what those resources were, they did more than anyone could have expected from them.

At the same time despite some notible achievments it is ridiculous to claim they were a major player, but I haven't seen anyone claim that.

When it hits the point where you imply that Hispanic immigration to the US is going to cause a nativist backlash of violent repression, then I begin to question your rationality.
I am sorry that you clearly were not following my arguments very well, and even sorrier that you feel that the use of ethnic slurs is an appropriate way to score debating points.

                  • The ironic thing about this discussion is that KH does want some government interference in Migration. How else will the countries be able to keep out people who have criminal records and such? that is right, only the government has that power, so either say that you support Government intervention in immigration or just say that you will allow unchecked migration. You can't be criticising those who want government intervention while you are still wanting some for your views on immigration.

                      • That's not irony, dude. It's also not inconsistency. The point about not wanting the government to intervene in labour markets is a standard conservative line, skeptical of the government's ability to predict the consequences of its actions or the value of different types of labour. It is not a statement about the absolute right of individuals to move across international borders.

Please pay attention. It's an efficiency argument, not a rights argument.

Why do people like you say stupid things sometimes?

I'm a liberal, but what you have said here does not fit my beliefs and thoughts. I am opposed to unrestricted immigration and I oppose granting amnesty to illegal immigrants who have broken the law.

                          • It's all very well to deny immigrants welfare payments, but the point of welfare is that it benefits those who pay for it as well as those who receive it.
It's not an unreasonable expectation to expect immigrants to be self-sufficient when they come over. I don't see what the problem is since they would have a path that they can use to acheive citizenship over a long enough period of time.

Similarly, if we deny immigrants access to the health care system, then there will be an increase in communicable diseases and people dying needlessly, and most people don't really like the idea of living in such a country.
What benefits are there towards citizenship, if you get the same privileges simply being a landed immigrant? I think it's important that our health care system not cover those who are landed immigrants until they become citizens. They should have the means to provide for themselves, including health care when they come over.
