I didn't claim SUV's and designer clothes. You made the stupid claim (and admitted it).

It was a completely appropiate example to get the idea across. Imagine that, you focus on the irrelevant example and not the entirely relevant idea, thus...

And now you finally admit you must retreat into semantics

No, that is me condescendingly patting you on the head for finishing your lesson in semantics. A B+ for you!

        WELL DONE WEZIL!!!

Hyperbole yes, and with that your entire argument being about semantics is even more obvious. Unless you also maintain that the poor are good stewards of their finances, but something tells me you don't.

The funny thing is that even Oerdin realized what I was saying, that the poor are frivolous about their money and their circumstances are to a degree a result of it. He even provided his own examples of what other such things could be. Only you, all by your lonesome, chose this lame horse to race with.

I called you on your claim. You tried to defend your claim until you realised you could not do so. Then you cliamed it was an exaggeration and admitted as such.

We're done here. I already have a preferred polyposter to argue with (rather than debate). I don't need another.

No, there are cases where you get a job, and thus get disqualified from the aid, you end up in a worse financial position than if you had just stayed out of work.

Only in the short run. Eventually you will be screwed. If you work you can advance or get better jobs. If you just sit at home on welfare you will always be poor. In fact your ability to get cash aid will diminish. Then when your kids do grow up you will be really screwed.

Hell if living off of aid were better than working I'd be on it quicker than ****. I have no real desire to be exploited by the man.

Nah, exploitation has to do with control. I would just be recieving gifts.

It doesn't seem like that would be a good idea. What is the government's justification? That it is hard to find a place which accepts food stamps?

Probably they decided to stop poor people from screwing themselves over. A lot of people I knew sold their food stamps for cash. May as well just give people the cash since the state is spending the same amount of money either way.

That's really the only reason I could see, at least that way they get dollar for dollar.

It's impossible to stop fraud with food stamps, but I guess the next step would be to require people to show ID. More cash benefits seems like a bad thing to me.
