I'm going to be a motorized vehicle owner.... yay.
Eek, be careful there. We had a (then new) 95 cav and it (and a lot of its bretheren, iirc) had serious electrical problems. We had to replace the starter like four times in a year and a half (in a new car, let me remind you). We got rid of it as soon as we could ...
Yeah, I've heard that cavs of that vintage have a dodgy rep...
My crappy american car has been quite good. Particularly in view of the abuse I put it through (over 100K miles already).

'95 was the year Chevy overhauled the design.
As I said, always avoid the first year of a new model, and that counts redesigns.
You make me laugh, though. My older brother had a 79 Ford Bronco we took to carrying a spare starter around in the back. It was only $60 to have the starter rebuilt, so he just kept one in and working, and the spare for when we had to replace it.
Many a night was I out in the dark in some parking lot somewhere working on that damn truck. Good truck though, all things considered. Replacing that starter every couple months still was cheaper from a yearly repair cost perspective than most cars.
