Why do you hate the millenium line? I went to Vancouver awhile ago and liked the Skytrain. I think having it go to the unsettled areas of Burnaby is a good idea so local, less developed people can get around easier.
Here is an interesting scenario to check out. The Vietnam war is cool.

I don't hate the Millennium line, I just think it sucks. The idea of a line from UBC to Coquitlam is a natural extension of the skytrain system, but as it stands now the Millennium line is incomplete.

Nothing wrong with the Millenium line. The only thing that bugs me about the Canada (RAV) line is that it took such a big fight and so much wasted time to get it. Downtown is starting to right itself, but Cambie is like a wasteland for closed businesses. Most of the mess could have been avoided if they started on time and tunnelled instead of waiting and doing the cut.
I am at 41st and near enough to Cambie that I will be Skytraining to work downtown on the days I don't do the hour walk.
Vancouver is serviced by transit enough that I have not owned a car since moving back here in 1990.
The Skytrain is one of the best 'subways' I've been on. It's above ground instead the usual dark underground, it's brightly colored, and only the station names are announced in a simple, nice voice. You should check out Japan where the subways stink from poor ventilation and mobs of disgusting salarymen, they're dark, always crowded, and worst is the old hag screaming ads about pachinko, as well as yelling about cell phone and bicycle rules, from the speakers all along the ceiling which is so loud that it's hard to read a book.
I say the Vancouver Skytrain is a very, very nice transit design.
