      Way to be grammar whores.

I never said everyone will download Firefox. Just that more and more people are. I don't think it'll ever pass IE in marketshare, but the FF point is just to school you on your assertion that IE doesn't permit choice.
Fine. It dramatically limits choice. Happy now?

I'm fairly sure it's Spelling Whore...

I think if I said John Macking Roe they'd be happy. It is the missing 'g' after 'in' that tripped their grammar whore radar. I'm trying to save face with this comment but it could have some truth to it.

No... I don't see how IE being bundled LIMITS choice. It might INFLUENCE choice, but it actually makes it easier to get FF or Safari or whatnot (as you otherwise would need to get a disk or something), so it certainly does not limit (ie, decrease) choice.

Then Safari bundled with iTunes doesn't limit choice either.

No one is asserting this but the people in your head.

                  You did, pops.

There is absolutely no technical nor use-case reason for iTunes to be forcing Safari out as an "update" to users who have never used it before. The entire purpose of this is a desperate attempt at stealing userbase since no one is using Safari on Windows.

That does not limit your ability to choose another browser. You can simply ignore either one...

What kind of idiot draws that conclusion?

It would have to install the program and uninstall and actively prevent the other browsers from working to limit choice. Don't be Agathon.

It limits the choice to not install the program, I suppose, but that's a pretty silly line to argue giving how harmless installing either of these programs is.

That said, it does suggest that objecting to safari's installation is silly also...

You don't get it. The point, saucy one, is that you claimed the Apple update software forced Safari on users. This is a false statement: Safari doesn't influence anyone's choice of browser, it just provides an option. Windows hides the option and offers no choice as to what browser you start with .

I don't think it's silly to like to have the explicit, well-informed decision on what crap gets put on a PC.

                              You guys are being Agathons.

I'm amazed that this thread has gone on this far. So a big corporation has indulged in a marginally misleading practice to artificially inflate its market share. Big surprise!

It's like being shocked to learn that a politician lied.
