To be fair O. I always refrain from calling you names. I simply described your unfailing ability to be duped. Name calling such as Dimwits, ****wit etc. seems to be your speciality.

      I'll put up three options

      #1. Lying by omission
Lying by omission is when an important fact is omitted, deliberately leaving another person with a misconception. This includes failures to correct pre-existing misconceptions. One may by careful speaking contrive to give correct but only partial answers to questions, thus never actually lying.

      #2. Misleading
Misleading is when a person tells a statement that isn't an outright lie, but still has the purpose of making someone believe in an untruth.

      or

      #3. Exaggeration
Exaggeration is when the most fundamental aspect(s) of a statement is true, but the degree to which it is true is not correct.

      and the definition

      lie 2 (l)
      n.
      1. A false statement deliberately presented as being true; a falsehood.
      2. Something meant to deceive or give a wrong impression.

Is this a thread bumped from 4 years ago? That's when all the anti-warmongers started this rant. Or are there just a lot of low IQ, herd following types here who never get bored of ranting about the Iraq invasion?
Here is an interesting scenario to check out. The Vietnam war is cool.

Yes, we all should embrace Iraq war for eternity because of it's benefits to mankind.

The interesting thing is the report state that there was no links what so ever while Bush & Co kept claiming the links were "bullet proof", "real", and "absolutely certain". The best you can say is that they knowingly and willingly exaggerated TO THE EXTREME. The more likely explanation is they lied through their teeth to get what they wanted.

Still unwilling to actually discuss the facts? OK, I expect no less from you though I am still disappointed when it happens.

No, as your posts are factually wrong. If reality is an insult to you, that isn't something Ming can help you with.

The posts have been entirely factually correct with documentation to back them up (see OP). You, my friend, just don't like the facts so you continually resort to personal attacks.

The real question is not what sort of lie it was, but how you let them get away with it.

Not that it really matters any more.

This is to discuss the Pentagon Report which was released on March 11th. As you can see certain people are still unable to accept the facts of what occurred so it seems a thread on this topic is still useful.

It's a minor point, unless one is defending Powell (as "duped") while castigating Bush, Cheney, etc (as Zkrib did). If one calls the whole pack of them, Powell included, liars, one is being more consistent and Patroklos has less of a case.

I, for one, think what Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Powell and the rest of those involved in pushing the war did was reprehensible. Whether or not it meets the dictionary definition of "lying" is irrelevant to me. They made claims of certainty when the data didn't support it, and they used those definitive-sounding claims to sell a war. We know this, we know that. They didn't know. They believed, and the basis for their belief was a pile of horse****. BUT THEY DIDN"T LIE!!111!!!
