No. They aren't. Since painkillers prevent people from killing themselves and allow them to be productive despite their ailments. It means they will have a greater impact on their society, as a result more reasons to cure their condition will occur.

The aspirin comparison is stupid kid.

Imagine if euthanasia was in place lets say 70 years ago, and widely employed, tell me what would be the state of our medical sciences? You could argue the same, but I would be hard to argument that.

She's depressed because kids run away from her when they see her. That's different from suffering from depression. You seem almost as insensitive as DD in this thread.
Because I refuse to kill her?

I don't see how killing her is the 'compassionate' response.

When someone who is depressed comes to me and says they want to kill themselves, is the 'compassionate' response to give them the means to do so?

By your own admission, she is suffering from depression, and depression is contributing to her sense of worthlessness.

Funny how your source mentions allowing terminally ill patients to take morphine to lessen their pain knowing that it will shorten their life significantly. That's what we normally do in the US. It's not to stop someone from being a burden. It's to ease their suffering.

I will admit that it sounds bad in the Netherlands, but your source does seem kind of iffy.

            Fine.

Give me a list of sources you find acceptable, otherwise I'm just wasting my time.

No, because you don't understand her. You aren't putting yourself in her shoes. You seem motivated by your own issues.

You have to give people a little respect man. In this case she has very good reason to be depressed. You can't help her with that. If she had a chemical imbalance, or family issues or something like that you could help her, but not when she looks like that.

I'm just saying that it's suspicious that the article talks about morphine use by terminally ill patients.

                    Maybe that's because it's a no-name, unsubstantiated source?

How about one with actual sources?

No, because you don't understand her. You aren't putting yourself in her shoes.
Which is why I answered the question posed to me the way I did?

I agree she has good reasons to be depressed, what I disagree is that her reasons are good for her to kill herself.

You have to give people a little respect
I am. I think she can have a good life and be happy. I think she should live out her life and hope for a cure, rather then killing herself now, and never having that chance.

but not when she looks like that.
Frankly who she is as a person has absolutely nothing to do with how she looks. I think it's disgusting anyone would accept her request to kill herself, rather then dealing with the real problems here.

Yes, she's lonely and ostracized. That hurts like hell. Why is the solution to kill her rather then treat her like a real person?

Oh, which is why it cites the Lancet?

I'm asking you asher, would you change your mind on this topic if I found this Lancet study for you?

No, because I think you should **** off if you want to get in the way of a person having a say over their own body.

If doctors kill patients without their consent, it's murder.

There's no issue here except for you pathetically trying to make one. It's sad.

Really? That seems incredible. It seems like you are just saying that. Sure it would be great if everyone treated her like she didn't have a disfiguration, but that's not going ot happen. You don't really believe that it is do you?
