  • Hagee isn't the man's pastor, Ramo. And do you really in a quote war over a man that believe that the AID's virus was developed by the US government as a genocidal plan against blacks?

For those who aspire to live in a high cost, high tax, big government place, our nation and the world offers plenty of options. Vermont, Canada and Venezuela all offer you the opportunity to live in the socialist, big government paradise you long for. –Senator Rubio

    • I'm guessing there's going to be quite a bit of buyer's remorse in the dem party over this.

      • It's his pastor of 20 years. The man who married him. The man who baptised his children. The man who he refers to as family.
        Thanks Dinodoc.

It's simple. Obama can say that he rejects his teachings on this (which he has not explicitly said), or that he accepts them. It tells us nothing when Obama says there are things he disagrees with him about, and it sounds like a dodge.

Honestly, I think Obama believes in the same things, which is why he goes to that church.

Let me say at the outset that I vehemently disagree and strongly condemn the statements that have been the subject of this controversy. I categorically denounce any statement that disparages our great country or serves to divide us from our allies. I also believe that words that degrade individuals have no place in our public dialogue, whether it's on the campaign stump or in the pulpit. In sum, I reject outright the statements by Rev. Wright that are at issue.

              • The statements that Rev. Wright made that are the cause of this controversy were not statements I personally heard him preach while I sat in the pews of Trinity or heard him utter in private conversation. When these statements first came to my attention, it was at the beginning of my presidential campaign. I made it clear at the time that I strongly condemned his comments. But because Rev. Wright was on the verge of retirement, and because of my strong links to the Trinity faith community, where I married my wife and where my daughters were baptized, I did not think it appropriate to leave the church.
How many people here believe this recent incident was the first time his pastor preached these things?

I don't, and I don't believe what Obama is saying that this is a recent development.

Oh, hey, did Mike Huckabee ever release his sermons to the public?

                      Your point being?

I've criticised Huckabee for his economic stances.

I don't see why I shouldn't be allowed to criticise Obama for his hatred of America.

I'm pretty sure that means exactly the opposite of your interpretation (for the reading impaired, that does not say "everyone who's your color is your kind"). The paragraph preceding that quote in your article explains:
The United Church of Christ, the denomination of the Chicago church, is overwhelmingly white. And Wright is an equal-opportunity critic, often delivering scorching lectures about black society, telling audiences to improve their educations and work ethic.
