    And I don't care if you think your uptime is 271 days. I've gotten DB-posting errors/SQL errors as late as yesterday. This is a frickin FORUM, it's not difficult, so you'll forgive me for rolling my eyes to you when it comes to technology.

                        Then I'm sure you will be able to describe to me in detail how you would setup a system on a new server based on a backup of an old one, when the new have very different software versions, and an in progress upgrade of the forum database to a new version.

                        I believe I know exactly the reason for the database errors that you have (if they are timeouts that could be pinpointed to certain times of the day.) I also have proposed an improvement which should reduce the risks of timeouts at those specific times, and delegated implementation of it to another technical staff because I myself had more important things to consider, and also have been very busy in non apolyton related areas. Sadly the proposed fix hasn't been implemented yet and I might have to do it myself next week. (When I for the first time since January have some continuous spare time.)

                            Ever heard of the phrase "fresh start"?

                            The version of vBulletin on this site is hideous and old and full of holes. The excuse that this version is so messed up that we can't simply upgrade to the latest version is bull****. Many other sites I visit have customized versions of vBulletin, sometimes to more of an extent than this, but they did so intelligently by using modular designs. It looks like whoever modded Apolyton's code had no concept of "upgrades" and that they'd ever need to do it, which is an alarming lack of foresight.

                            The fact that this "new" server is now quite old and is still suffering regular database problem for simple forum software is just bizarre. You can defend it all you want, but it's really not that hard to do if you pick good software and know how to configure it properly. That is clearly not the case here.
