No kidding, but that's the way it is here. Day before yesterday I was at the place where we buy the cement and went next door to the bakery to drool over the cookies. Out of another shop a pretty girl runs out, poses, and waves saying "hi"! The ladies around were laughing... White guys are considered good prospects and with the economy there aren't many of those around. So I had my camera and was going to get the Poly guys a nice pic but she all of a sudden remembered that Filipinas are shy and bolted, her courage used up...
So no pic.
Anyway, if you want a nice gal come to the Philippines and you can buy me some cookies. It's just that tough.Long time member @ Apolyton

Congrats on the successful pour!
What is the flying roof you and Zkribbler were discussing earlier in the thread? I didn't understand the description. Can you link to a picture of such a thing?
Instead, here's a pic of the stairs. We're going to be adding a couple steps to make the ocean work a little harder to climb them.

Maybe you can clarify something for me that I've been wondering.
What's the difference or the proper usage for these terms?
* Filipino/na
* Philipino/na
* How the heck do you properly spell "Phillippines" anyway?
* Pilipino (no "f" sound)
* Pinoy/Pinay
When I was a reporter there were several immigrant groups in the area and they sent us weekly updates to put into our events section. They were all fairly straightforward, except for the Filipino/Phillippine/Pilipino groups, who couldn't agree on a common frickin name to use. Each week I'd have to call the person up (always a different one) and clarify the spelling. And then the editor would call me into his office and we'd have to alter the standard spelling of the bloody word.
I haven't met any Phillippinos that I didn't like but this series of weirdass events has made me deeply suspicious. Like... maybe they're intentionally obscuring their name so when they launch their surprise attack, it'll crash our computer systems.

I dunno much but /na is a gal and /no a guy. Beyond that I just wing it, being helped alot by the fact that among the 'pinoys' here I'm speaking and they can't tell that I'm misspelling everything, and here at Poly most are relying on me for my expertise.Don't tell them Alinestra, k? Just our secret...

Donegeal, Poly House I is here in Jagna up in the hills a bit. Poly II is about to get started in Mabini, a town about an hour and a half away along Bohol's circumference road. This is Dolores and my place at the beach in Garcia Hernandez, the next town up from Jagna.
We're going to start cleaning up the place maybe tomorrow, then we still need to move the existing salacot about a meter to make room for parking the little truck inside and we'll also need maybe 6 cubic meters of limestone to park the truck on. There's a bit of a hole there now. Also Papa Mente aquired two additional Talisay trees for a bottle of local wine which we're going transplant this week for extra shade. We planned for them when we were getting dirt deliveries to backfill the seawall we got 2 loads out of the blue of nice black dirt. We brought some to Jagna for the garden here and made two places at the Garcia property where those trees will be happy to find themselves.
Fun stuff, not so intensive as last week.
