I'm sure the rum has something to do with that.

Dolores with her nephew Teddy Jr, Jennifer and Malou.
Teddy Jr. looks a lot bigger now.

What is the flying roof you and Zkribbler were discussing earlier in the thread? I didn't understand the description. Can you link to a picture of such a thing?
VetLegion--
Imagine an extra story on the top of the house -- only this one has no walls. The roof is held up only by posts. A flying roof works like a house parasol by keeping the direct sunlight off the house and making it cooler.

There's lots of jungle in the tropics, which means lot of trees. Why aren't houses built out of wood instead of concrete??
BTW: Either I have forgotten how cute Dolores is, or she's gotten better looking since the last time I saw her.

The most relaxed, peaceful easy going people I've ever had the pleasure to live among. Zkrib is right Vet, it's my house plan. If you want to stay cool in the Phils go to the ocean and stand under shade trees in a garden with a parasol.
Theben, I started last night with hot chocolate and rum and ended up with San Miguel and I still couldn't catch up with that cat's philosophy!
Teddy Jr is getting to be a big guy. He's a good dart thrower as well.
Zkrib, you can build a house out of wood here, np. It's just not as nice or as strong or as secure and the termites here are over achievers. Commonly the wood houses have a cement and stone foundation, 1/8th inch "marine" (it's not) plywood over coco lumber frame, like the one next door. Then there's the sea facing portion that is finished hollow block. Lastly it's roofed with corrogated metal over a wood frame. Very inexpensive way to build.

Wezil, I'm sorry. I got the mistaken impression from misreading one of your earlier posts that you are 14 years old.
That would mean I registered at Poly when I was 6.
I know where you get the 14 from however. You mentioned earlier (when you were posting pics of the 18 year old) that you were 14 years older than Delores.
I added 18 + 14 and concluded I was too old for your 18 year old.
I'm sorry Lancer but I'm afraid 14 year olds are not in my romantic future.

I love darts, but I am the worst dart thrower in the world. Make sure Fluffington is well out of the way when I throw.
Ah yes. Those little critters.
I used to be ok at darts but I have just as much fun watching the competition and then I'm free to wander, swim, whatever... and not stuck to the board.

It's not too big that's true though I don't want to do conversion to feet right now after yesterday. The property is longer along the ocean than it is deep to the road. It's what you see in the pics... Now that a whole corner is practicly unusable it seems kinda small but when we have the wood removed before we leave it will seem big again. Also when we add a second story and garden that will add some sq meters too. Seems big when you're there because the ocean is big.
Here the white ship from Cagayan de Oro comes to dock in Jagna. Great when it sails in front of the darker volcano.

Good job, all!
Tonight, I join you in a beer.
Tomorrow, I shall wear my orange shirt in celebration.
Thanks for joining the celebration Zkrib!
Papa Mente is the man, it's true. His house was falling down around him, his wife passed away, hardship everywhere in his life but all his kids got their college education.
Here Pa is chatting with Lindy who dropped by. Lindy is a guy that was hitting on Dolores while she was waitressing in the US so we found him a filipina wife. He now lives in Jagna with her and her 2 kids full time.

You figs are prob'ly about right tho.
Altho we see mainly close-ups for your house, I was lookin' at the property next door & I'd guesstimate that it's 35 feet from road to seashore. If you're longer along the shore, then 160 sq. meters is about right.
Nice thing about that place is it's land is not all eroded away. When we started our project our property was the same as the one that lies between ours and the next door, badly eroded. We built the wall then backfilled many tons of limestone from the quarry and dirt from a gov road widening project. That was spendy and super hard work.
Still, erosion can happen and who knows what the future holds when you have a place on the ocean? You roll your dice and take your chances.
Lindy's wife is on the right. She had kids but no husband so had no prospects here in the Phils that's taboo, bad rep! So we found her Lindy a guy that was very lonely and needing someone, but with no prospects in the US of course. They've been together for a few years now and are very happy here in the Phils.
