About 1,500 when I looked, from Dallas, per person.
I didn't investigate too much. I could see I wouldn't be going this weekend.

They're gonna get you man! They'll go postal on you, it's what they're good at!

No biggy I'm sure Arrian. Paypal said something about you being an international communist arab terrorist with connections to the mafia, but hey! You're not French so whatevaaar.

Hang in there buddy, the snail dragging the envelope ran out of slime. They're rushing it some more but the rushing snail had a goo blowout.

So Lancer, how much in USD would it cost my GF and I to fly out to the Phils for a week, if I wanted to fly not in luxury, but in enough comfort that I didn't jump out of the plane in agony/boredom/discomfort?-Snoopy

Firstly the travel can take 20 or more total hours. The flight from San Fran to HK or Manila or Cebu can take 14 hrs alone. Add to that getting to SF and hanging out in the airport waiting...you really don't want to come for just a week. Plan on 3 weeks minimum if you can do it, or wait until you can do it. A month or 6 weeks is enough to really chill. Three months and you're a Filipino. Don't think of the expenses here like you would think of a normal vacation. You can stay at my place for what it costs me to put a person up, which incl food, bottled water, gas, electric, yadda yadda is maybe $200 for a M O N T H. That's everything you consume in the house. If you take your honey out the the Garden Cafe, you might spend $4 per person if you're hungry. So, it's cheap once you get here so stay here a long time!

The flight in economy is yucky, but doable. Check online at ASAP travel for prices. ASA university travel in Tigard Oregon is another good one. Call them, ask for...erg, I gotta think of the name.

We paid $1300 round trip per person, but turns out we paid too much, ASAP could have done it around $1000. Depends on the route.

I gotta run out the door, I'll give more info later.

Wow, it looks like about $3400 for two people...

        That's a bit more than I expected.

Krill, got your paypal donation, thanks for helping!

Snoopy, that's about right. If you can get tickets for $1000 each, for the two of you I'll go $300 for a month just for yucks, and then $1000 in spending money in case you want to see the sights. Likely you'll bring some of that home.

So it's about the price of a junker used car.

While you're saving for your trip consider this. The first month costs $2000 extra because of the airfare. Each additional month only costs $300 plus whatever you spend out and about. Taking a few weeks and hanging out at the ocean property swinging in the hammock, taking dips, BBQing, and drinking cheap rum drinks is practicly free.

Zkrib, tell him it's worth it, plus now we have the ocean property which we didn't have when you were here.

                    • Hopefully I've jumped through the hoops that Paypal wanted me to jump through and the money will now go through.

It was Paypal that held up the transaction - for some reason they thought donating $50 to some shady guy in southeast Asia indicated that my account had been hijacked It should be all sorted now. Can you confirm on your end?

                      • Hrm. My account access is restored, but the transaction is still on "temporary hold" and it says that it is awaiting a response from the "seller" - that being you, Lancer. It says it sent you an email.

                          • Lancer, unfortunately I'm not retired, and my company only gives me a few weeks' vacation a year... so unless I came across December-January, it wouldn't be more than a few weeks I'll keep it in mind though, although it will not be anytime in the near future... $3000-$4000 is a lot of money for me

I stayed for 1 1/2 weeks. That was good, but I didn't get to see Bohol's monkeys (the tiniest in the world) or the Chocolate Mountains. ...So now, I have to go back.
