you should still respect picket lines and not cross them

We are talking about the REPUBLICAN primary! You know, the party that is pretty anti-union?

Oh I'm sorry, someone voted for Huckabee in my poll and I naturally assumed he was the candidate of choice for gun-toting Texas rednecks...

So, who are you going to vote for then?
Is it me, or is MOBIUS a horrible person?

Which is why Huckabee revelled in breaking the picket line.

No, this will hurt him badly. Just because you disagree with the strikers isn't justification for crossing a picket.

You really don't know much about the Republicans in this country do you? Let's just say that crossing a picket line probably helped him... especially Hollywood liberal types, among a good portion of the Republican electorate. Recall this is the party that still speaks highly of Reagan firing the airline workers during their strike and hates (and I mean hates) unions.

But not nearly enough. I mean, Hell, I'm sure Romney or Guiliani would give two ****s about a picket line.

Most of America is going though prime time TV withdrawl, they have zero symapthy for the writers even.

And there is nothing wrong with crossing picket lines. You want to stike, go ahead. You being greedy (usually) should not get in the way of me going to class/using the subway/being a patron of the bagel shop that happens to be at the bottom of the building you are stiking at. What does comedy writers striking have to do with Huckabee doing a portion of a show that has never used writing? Nothing.

Now being a scab, well that is another thing. And being a scab is what the protestors actually called him. A scab he is not.

It'll be interesting to see how the guest lists shake out. The Screen Actors Guild has told its members to honor the WGA strike. So any actors appearing o Leno or Conan will, in fact, be scabs.

cause the Iowa fundies who are voting for him didnt get the good word on unions from George Will? Or have you missed the high tory reaction to Huckabee entirely?

The only justification for crossing one is an emergency. To cross a picket line to promote yourself on national tv looks both desperate, crass, opportunist and shows a lack of respect for the strikers.

True, because they see the airline workers (who are public btw), as on the payroll of the state. Private businesses are much different. Maybe you don't see a difference between public and private sector unions, but Conservatives do not like public sector unions at all.

I wouldn't be surprized if Huckabee could reach more people in Iowa on Letterman than on any local Iowan station/venue.

I wouldn't be surprised if it became common practice for people to spell surprised 'surprized' in the US in the near future.

Nope. Can't claim special insight there.
