First off.
1. There is no 'formal creation of the Roman Catholic church'. The church began with Christ. Therefore there cannot be churches in the east that predate the Catholic church. If you are going to say this then you need to show when you believe the 'Catholic church' started.

Actually the Methodists are really a splinter group of the Anglicans. Their founder, John Wesley was an Anglican priest who was dismayed at the corruption, sophistry, and lack of zeal in the Church of England of his day. Though the Methodists were eventually forced to seperate from the Church of England John Wesley never did. The Presbyterian Church OTOH is one of the Calvinist group. The Presbyterian churches in the US can be traced back to John Knox and the Church of Scotland. Thomas Cartwright brought the teachings of John Knox to England in the 1570s.Originally posted by SlowwHand
