  • I doubt there would be any sort of backslide, but maybe a temporary slow down in the development of technology due to the losses in the U.S. and global strife.

Cool side effect: Increases in global warming takes a modest hit.

Are Americans not the biggest producers of carbon, per person in the world?

The loss of 300 mil people is not neccesarily a huge hit to global population either, but it is something.

AIDs overwhelms Africa overnight as everyone knows the only thing preventing it is U.S. dollars!

I doubt it, half the rest of the world burning won't help much. It certainly won't help the more important concerns of general polution.

I don't know, with no money and wars across the globe it might be hard to maintain our current levels. We might still have the knowledge, but just not have the resources/time/opportunity to build/develope/produce like we did until global recovery.

      • Americans are the largest producers of carbon, per person, of any country, by a hefty margin. I can't say if this will have a modest impact on slowing global warming, but it is something.

The rest of the world isnt literally burning. Mexico say, with cannibal gangs running around, probably wont be generating much electricity for awhile.

Or Canada, for example, in economic depression, will probably generate less CO2 as well.

Still with all the delegates gone, the secretary general, all his subordinates etc, can you expect it to exist anymore?

With all the global turmoil that follows, even if some remnant existed in geneva it would be ignored even more then today.
