The loss of 300 mil people is not neccesarily a huge hit to global population either, but it is something.

I doubt it, half the rest of the world burning won't help much. It certainly won't help the more important concerns of general polution.

I don't know, with no money and wars across the globe it might be hard to maintain our current levels. We might still have the knowledge, but just not have the resources/time/opportunity to build/develope/produce like we did until global recovery.

Americans are the largest producers of carbon, per person, of any country, by a hefty margin. I can't say if this will have a modest impact on slowing global warming, but it is something.

The rest of the world isnt literally burning. Mexico say, with cannibal gangs running around, probably wont be generating much electricity for awhile.

Or Canada, for example, in economic depression, will probably generate less CO2 as well.
