Just move out of LA. San Diego or Orange County are still close by but far enough away that your dad's noncompete contract won't apply. I'm sure he could find work in those areas. The sucky thing is now is a terrible time to be selling a house but if they can afford to rent out their current house then it is an excellent time to buy a second.

I knew you were but I thought she was too.

In that case California, Oregon, or Washington would all be good.

I liked this thread better when people were arguing about whether b etor was living in Colorado or LA.

I live in the opposite corner of PA and I like it. My wife always goes on about moving somewhere warmer. Not happening.

Anyway, lived in Arizona and it was ok. Just make sure the family gets a house with a swimming pool. That would have made all the difference. And what's nice about living in Phoenix is that Flagstaff is close by, so you can go see snow during the winter if you have the urge, but you don't have to live in it.

North Carolina is ok I guess. I mainly have only been to the Outer Banks, and that's not where you'd end up probably. Been to Raleigh a couple times to visit family; just seemed kind of blah to me.
