  • No, it isn't.
    What isn't?

    No, he wasn't.
Please forgive my ignorance, for I come from a land that is a little less liberal with the amps, but how was he acting out of line?

    • Seems some people will back the police no matter what they do.
if you want to stop terrorism; stop participating in it

You just keep thinking that way. Real bright.
A six year old? You've got to be ****ting me? You don't need a taser unless your some limp-wristed dickhead unable to move either arm. The cop could have easily used his own strength to restrain the girl.

I don't really care about police brutality when it comes to criminal scum like murders but why the hell are police using tasers against so many minor acts of criminality?

Simply put, most cops in this country are power tripping *******s too cowardly to go after real criminals in dangerous black ghettos, mexican slums, and trailer parks but instead take their aggression out on people who they feel won't fight back and have committed only lesser crimes.

You just keep thinking every minor transgression requires tazers and a shotgun blast to the face.

            • What do you know about anything? If a 6 year old had a gun, I'd have enough brains to worry. If a grown man doesn't have the maturity to do as he knows he should be doing, tase his ass.

              • The 6 year old did not have a gun but the cop that tased her did so in order to get the child to stop messing around with glass.

Now, if this was my own kid. I'd grab him and smack him upside the head but using a taser? Give me a break. Sorry, it's hard to justify use of tasers in a lot of these situations.

No-one has yet explained how his conduct a) broke the law and b) posed such a threat that the use of a taser was appropriate.

                  • If a cop smacked him upside the head, you're going to tell me that people wouldn't complain?
Cops may not always be right, but some of you people are ridiculous. You move it from some dumb**** that won't do as he's told, to a child. The only similarity being "oh the damned cop".

Did the police officer follow proper procedures for an arrest or for the use of the taser? Or, is the extent of your argument "you must do whatever the man holding the taser says"? That hardly sounds like the land of the free to me, especially as the guy wasn't told he was under arrest for not signing the ticket.

The side of the road isn't where you argue the ticket.

Is that the law, or is it "common sense" when a man is pointing a taser at you (in which case, see above post)?

It seems odd that you would be legally bound to add your signature to the ticket - that begs the question surely?

Ok, so your point is that ignoring the cop was the proper attitude? You go ahead and try it. I doubt even where you live that you'd get away with it.

I think a lot fewer people would complain if a cop smacked a child. Most people that have been around children know they can be annoying little ****s that deserve a smack every once in a while but using a taser? Let's be honest, how many people would agree to using that much force on a child. Let me ask you this, would you taser your own child if you found him messing around with broken glass? I certainly wouldn't and I'd be pissed as hell if a cop did that to my own child.

I think I went overboard in my last post by deriding cops. Obviously, most do a good job and only a few make the news but some of these incidents strike of unwarranted police brutality, incompetence, and over-aggression.

There seems to be a strong stigma against criticizing cops in this country and while I think they do deserve respect for their jobs they should be equally open to criticism against actions and department policies.

                              • Before I back out of the discussion, society is making it where a slap on the ass by a parent means a call to Child Protective Custody. A cop is screwed if he/she were to do similar.
