    I vote for getting fired.

It's obvious that the policer officer had issues and cant deal with them accordingly. Citizens should not pay for the guys irrationnality.

I really DO hope tasers are NOT used for punishment.
Ya know, democracy stuff, separation of power and so: police has NO right to PUNISH anyone, in any way. PUNISHMENT is a matter of justice, not of police!!!! (Democracy: basic lesson, part 1)

I really do hope that in the policeman's mind, he used it to make the guy comply, NOT to punish him for not complying!!!!!
          Biiiig difference.

Time for the officer to dust off the resume...

            Under experience his resume reads

            Terrorist
            duties: applying electroshock.

How can you condone this? The Officer could almost assuredly have used persuasion to both inform the citizen of his actual rights and then outline the escalating consequences...but nooooooo! He has Authoritah! You will comply or I will taze you!

                That is utter crap.

This officer needs, at the very least, a bit of training on non-confrontational methods of dealing with people. At most, he needs another career.

I hope you are trolling. You usually make a lot of sense, but now, you're just out of it imo.

Well, this is what you get when the average law enforcer has the IQ of a worn out cubblestone.

Now extrapolate this to one of Americas many backward states...

Did you miss this part Patroklos?

"There are some things on the video tape that concern us. We do have an internal review process, and that's why we are reviewing it," explained Sgt. Jeff Nigbur with the Utah Department of Public Safety.

Im amazed there are supporters of the policeman. Maybe with our (thank god) rather tame police around here one cant grasp the concept of absolute obidience to the police that has to be enforced with any means avaibel (dont comply in a non-agressive way -> be tased). Note: noone was in any danger, noone did "flee" a crime scene, walking casually is not fleeing (at least when you apply common sense that is)...
If its no fun why do it? Dance like noone is watching...

He was headed back toward his car sounds like fleeing to me, Daniel.

As for the rest, I stand by my earlier statement of it being a perfect storm of asshattery from all sides.

Did you miss what Dongeal wrote. I bet if I watched you at work I could find a procedural flaw with nearly everything you did. So?

I was looking at the youtube page and several of the posters there brought up a point I had never thought of before. Signing the ticket is a promise to appear in court and essentially your bond. If you don't sign the ticket "promise to appear", you must be brought before a magistrate which is handled by bringing the non-signer to jail. Is this true, Donegeal?
