As you note wrt MoveOn, in modern U.S. politics there's no such thing as a group that is ideologically inflexible/uncompromising. The fundies' representations were merely fortuitous as Bush was a one-time answer to their prayers that won't be repeated for quite some time. Now they see the writing on the wall and duly bend over.
    Unbelievable!

Besides, Romney was pro-choice, pro-gay rights until a few months ago, and most people know it. As robertson looked the two of them over he had to consider whether he though Romney's "conversion" was the real thing or not.

It's much more about rubbing their noses in their sanctimony now that it's clearly about self-interest rather than any actual moral high ground.

So those two were his only choices?

Funny, Robertson blamed abortion and gays for 9/11 and now he's endorsing the Mayor of the city where God's wrath struck us?

Hey Abraham! Are you gonna vote for the Mayor of Sodom?

In general I would say that is true though if pushed and prodded they will grudgingly admit that Catholics are Christians abet with a page long disclaimer about how misguided and lost the poor papists are.

I have yet to meet any sort of fundimentalist Christian (Protestant, Catholic, or Orthodoxed) who will admit that Mormons are Christians. I have to say they do have a point too given how Mormons believe a new prophet came to supplement the teachings of Christ. Having studied a fair bit about the origins of Mormonism I can honestly say it really does sound like a nonsensical cult which clearly deviates enough from core Christian teachings so that it is a different religion/cult.

Please do not call us fundamentalists. The label causes us to turn big and green and start smashing things. Fundamentalism is a Protestant phenomenon.

We do think Mormonism's creepy, though. We even have a little pamphlet about them and the JWs, entitled "Cultist at my Door."

I actually agree with you (and the fundies) wrt Mormonism. I don't really consider it to be a Christian church.

I've known true fundies who don't consider Catholicism to be Christian.

I just hope fundie Christians finally wake up and realize they've been taken for a ride all these decades by the Republican party and have been brought right back to where they started.
Oh, and who are they going to vote for? The democratic candidate?

In reality, there are only two options for president:a republican nutjob or a democratic nutjob.

Their option is to stop caring about morals when voting, since republicans and dems are the same regarding gay stuff+abortion, and to start voting based on economic issues, foreign policy etc

In a catholic forum I post in, you have many people who say stuff like, I am agaisnt the war in Iraq and the tax cuts of Bush, but I voted for him because he is agaisnt abortion.

Now, that kind of people, may vote for the dems

I'm fairly certain that anyone part of the Christian Right uncomfortable with the Republicans will stay home before bringing themselves to vote for Hillary.
