  • Pat Robertson Endorses Rudy

Big blow to Romney. I think this will help Rudy somewhat with christian conservatives in the primary, an area where he has lots of problems. Don't know how Robertson squares the circle with regard to all of Rudy's scandals in his private life, on the other hand. If I were Clinton, I would have my minions hammer Rudy hard on those.

Rudy has problems even with the moderate catholic social conservatives. Robertson will not help Rudy there, of course.

Despite all of those problems, Rudy has a chance at the GOP nomination. Rare that someone with his profile has a fighting chance.

I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

Do you think Clinton really wants to go after someone's private life? That seems like the surest way to provoke a MAD scenario.

OTOH, won't this neuter his support among moderates? It should. And I couldn't imagine Robertson endorsing Romney. He'd probably view endorsing a Mormon in much the same light as endorsing Gloria Steinem.

I think it's essential that she goes after his private life (indirectly, of course), if only to inoculate herself on the issue.

Robertson is a political hack. He knows full well Rudy doesn't fall remotely in-line with the values of the Christian Right; there are much better candidates for that. I just hope fundie Christians finally wake up and realize they've been taken for a ride all these decades by the Republican party and have been brought right back to where they started.

I find it hilarious an endorsement from Robertson is seen as a good thing.

That seems like the surest way to bring on you. I would think Hillary would have more sense than to attack someone over marital problems when the house she lives in has such clean glass.

Hmm... I guess that this means that Baptists hate Mormons even more than they hate Catholics.

I'd vote against any candidate that accepts Robertson's endorsement.

Like you'd ever vote Republican anyway.

In some ways, Hillary is a sympathetic figure. She was wronged by Bill. AFAIK, Rudy was the philanderer in his relationships. My sense is that Rudy's private life was more salacious. Or at least Rudy's was the one subjected to the inventive NYC tabloids.

Admittedly, this issue is an odd one. Some people probably blame Hillary for being cheated on. Human nature is a strange thing.

Good point. I wouldn't vote Democrat either. Your system is more busted than ours, and that's pretty sad.

                            BS! She was an enabler.
