Well, I guess that people are different in their views about what is funny when and where - and yeah, if this thread isn't any longer about the sad things that has happened and has turned into a mockery of the idiot that did it, you may have a point.

Thinking about it, death was about the best outcome he could hope for after killing seven kids. His odds of escape were negligible and after doing something like that I'd expect his prison guards would look the other way while the bigger prisoners took turns jackhammering his backside, day in and day out. The manifesto itself isn't very interesting. I think he tries to copy unabomber in some ways, and it says his interests are serial killers and so forth, so very likely he has read about unabomber. I bet my left testicle one of his favourite websites was crimelibrary.com, because it has tons of good sections on famous serial killers, and you can't browse through unless you read unabomber as well. Besides, his manifesto is at least famous.

So he thought about the world what he thought, but what makes him do this and not just commit a suicide like everyone else does? I don't know, could be many reasons. I think his ego wouldn't let him go down quietly, he needed to be top news and that's why he also wrote the manifesto to begin with. None of the steps for preparation happened by accident, it must have taken few weeks at least, so it was calculated and cold blooded from the beginning to the end.

He went from room to room systematically, this means that he didn't hesitate to begin with, but he kept going systematically, he was in permanent state of f'd up. He didn't become to a realization of his deeds after he first shot, plus there were multiple head shots involved, so execution style is very likely for few people.

The security police(?) was on TV, some guy specialized on school shootings (hey, finally he got to do some work?), and said he fits the profile with for example the ones that we've seen in the US. It also explains his efficiency and attention to detail. He says he doesn't want this to be remembered as a school shooting only, making his awareness of the media very obvious and his intention to be the news. He said it was more like political terrorism. Well, why the school then? I don't think he was into political terrorism or changing the world, he was for doing what others have done before, be the #1 news for a while, kill random people and commit a suicide at the end, because he was f'd up in the head and wanted to die and blamed everyone for his own state. Or something like that.

I think it's safe to say that he was influenced by the other school shootings, Nietzsche and the unabomber. Making him an equivalent of a depressed first year philosophy student who can't hack it and instead goes on automated destruction mode. A loser in other words.

I think getting away could be done if the shooter wasn't basically interested in getting his rocks off watching people die at his hand. With a couple of semi-automatic pistols how long would it really take to dispatch a dozen people? Less than a minute. Properly planned the shooter could be back in his car almost at the same time the cops were jumping into theirs. ( In the US a high percentage of teens have their own cars. ) After that it would take some ingenuity to stay at large and on the run, but with sufficient planning it might be possible.
