I'll take a shot at this. Women want genetic diversity. They have no idea that's what they want though. Think about it. The guys in Norway complain that their women marry foriegners, I've heard the same complaints from Swiss guys. In the US, its blonds and black guys, in the Philippines the women want white. Women want guys from as far as they can get em, whether its the other side of the hill a thousand years ago or the other side of the world today. Guys that either can't find a good woman or don't like the choices they have just need to travel to somewhere they'll be considered very foriegn.

Your logic is entirely faulty. The scandinavian chicks marry foreigners because they're tired of freezing their arses off and fighting sunlight-deprivation depression through those subarctic winters.


But seriously, these women aren't looking for anything genetic, many just want something different from whatever they grew up with. Either it's getting out of a bad situation, or just the grass being greener on the other side of the fence.

Throw in the First World-Third World gap, and I'd bet that trumps any genetic factor. Poor in the US is living like a king elsewhere.

The point that I am trying to make in this thread is that MOST women look for security (the package I was talking about) in a long term relationship and MOST men look for a fun person to be with first and foremost. Can you at leats agree with that?

No. I can agree that many women look for this "security" thing (defined as broadly as you have) as one of several factors they consider. But neither you nor I know enough women from a wide enough cross-section of cultural, socio-economic, geographic, religious backgrounds to be able to say that "90% of all women on Earth want 'security' more than anything else."

There are several things women can look for - security, good sex life, compatible religious beliefs, family approval, etc. Different women can want different things in different orders.

In my experience the primary need that a woman has is to be desired.

They also like a man to take initiative and to surprise them quite a bit.

It helps if other women show interest in you.

And it seems to help also if she cannot be 100% secure about you.

In a word they need romance.

I see some people have talked of providing for the woman and her children, and stability. In my experience these are things the man thinks the woman should value (and for which he should get credit) but in fact they count for little or nothing.

She wants to have some control, but not be completely in control.

If she has no control, then she wont see you as a suitable life partner. Regardless of other things, a woman does have the biological urge to raise children, and she does want a partner who she can keep around. If you're completely reckless and uncontrollable she will be turned off. Men have the biological urge to plant their seed everywhere they can, women know that, so they need that degree of control.

But there's the other side of the coin, it bears keeping in mind, that a mate is a protector. A woman (on the savanna) is relatively unable to protect herself and her babies (from beasts, men etc). So a man DOES need to be able to assert himself when necessary, if he's a submissive wuss then what kind of protector is he? So you need to prove that you can assert yourself. If you can't even assert yourself to her then you just fall off the radar, you're no good.
Part of "savages reality", is that some males will kill babies born to different males. So the mate needs to be able to (at least help) fend off other men or the woman will lose her babies born to him :P. So that fighting spirit (whether through physical prowess, intimidation or manipulation), it's really important.

The game has changed a bit because we now live in cities rather than on the savanna, but the rules are basically unchanged.

It could really be said, that women want protectors. Someone who will protect them. Someone who is caring when she needs him to be and kicks ass when he needs to.
This isn't to say that a man needs to be a violent thug. But he needs to be confident in his conduct, ideally he should have such an air of confidence that other men wont even pick a fight with him. People with that supreme air of confidence are extremely attractive.

The reality however is that all women are different, as in "all people are different" and you will find women whose thing is "romance" others "security" third will leave you no matter what (for various reasons), fourth will go for you due to her religious background... and so on...

there is no overarching point, you meet a person, find out who she is, and off you go... surprises with every one of them I am sure.

Due to most people exiting within certain social bounds in the part of society they belong to, men than try to generalize to help out in the understanding of this "woman" mystery... but I am sure even if they were gay, than they would get around to understand the "men" mystery ... there is no recipe, nor is there any reason for it... meet the person and that is all there is, you will find out who she is, whether romantic, smart, security driven, career driven, independent, materialistic, an idiot, glutton, nymphomaniac, or just plain pathetic... but they are all different in the main "reason" that drives them, those reasons change also as they grow old, just like with men
